TGS 2007: Final Fantasy Dissidia Update
Squall joins the fight.

September 19, 2007 - Square-Enix's upcoming fighting game includes some big names in the Final Fantasy Universe. You'll get to control the likes of Zidane, Kuja, Sephiroth, and Garland. During a TGS 2007 trailer at Square-Enix's booth, they revealed Squall will also be added to the mix. Little else was shown of the game, save for a few CG sequences featuring an angry-looking Sephiroth, and a few brief snippets of gameplay.

No release date was given, as the trailer labeled the game a "work in progress." More as we hear it.

GameTrailers have recently uploaded a run-through preview for Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. The video explains the Mission system, Materia, Gameplay, and how the DMW Battle System works.
We also get glimpses of the soundtrack (including music very similar to the original Final Fantasy VII), as well as a sneak-peak at the game's stoaryline and characters (who, as we all know, also appear in the original FFVII).

More FFXI - Wings of the Goddess Info!

Dancer officially revealed as the 19th job of FFXI and the first to be revealed that are being added with the latest expansion.

Still no information on what role this job will play but from the clips we've seen in the latest TGS trailer it looks to be a very promising job!

Sage Sundi and his development team made us aware some time ago that the latest expansion will see adventurers travelling into the past in the latest expansion.

It looks like we'll be travelling through time with a bit of help from 'Atomos'. It's not yet known why he has appeared but gateways known as the 'Cavernous Maws' have popped up across Vana'Diel.

Gamespy - "FFVII: Crisis Core surpasses even the mightiest PSP game"

During the Tokyo Game Show, Gamespy were lucky enough to get their hands on Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core ... and they were impressed with the results! Impressed enough to give a VERY positive preview of the game, as well as going as far as to say that the vastly popular Monster Hunter 2 Freedom "seems near average compared to Crisis Core."

So will Crisis Core live up the the hype? We will have to wait and see ...

Maiki drawings of the new characters:

Final Fantasy XIII:

His left sleeve is folded up to his elbow and has some belt or black strap thingy at his arm. And the design on his inner shirt was slightly different. I couldn't get a good view of his right arm so I'm not sure if the sleeve is folded or not.

The beady things at her cheeks I'm not sure if they were her hairbands or earrings. And I reeeeaaally can't remember her clothes well because despite she doesn't wear much, she had some nice accessories below her neck and above her chest. And LOL, don't follow my colours, basically she's a redhead. XD; All she did was stand on top of this mountain or cliff or somewhere of those sorts, the camera zooms up to her face and she was grinning and the camera turned to her back.

Final Fantasy versus XIII:

I suppose she's the heroine of the game. She was just standing and brooding when she first showed up (and that somehow gave me the impression that she's like a female version of Squall XD) and then suddenly the Prince came rushing in and when he saw her, he was a bit surprised and then the girl frowned/glared at him and he glared back and then suddenly they started to face off each other and they have this Suikoden-ish symbols glowing behind them. Blue/watery behind the Prince, red/firey behind the girl.

He's like a cross between Roxas and Zexion, except his 'emo fringe' isn't exactly covering his right eye but the fringe is definitely on top of it. He's extremely skinny (the opposite of the Prince, who's quite muscular) yet taller than the Prince, so he's pretty lanky. It feels like Nomura's aware of the yaoi fangirls' Rule of Slashing that he decided to break one of them. >_>; (the height rule) And Blonde here ALWAYS have his shotgun on his shoulder all the time.

You can read the rest here:

Whoooaa! The blonde girl looks awesome!

FFVII: Crisis Core review - "the game is a masterpiece"

Softpedia.com have recently reviewed Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and fans will be happy to note that they don't just give it a positive review, but also go as far to call it "a masterpiece".

Perhaps the mediocre FFVII Compilation has been saved with this title?

Screenshots of a new zone in FFXI:WotG!

Apparently this is the area you are sent to when you enter Atomos and travel back in time.

The commercial features brief scenes from Crisis Core, as well as a brand-spanking new scene from the movie Advent Children Complete, which involves Cloud fighting Sephiroth while his black wing is revealed.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Three "new" screenshots from GameSpy.com:

Fabula Nova Crystallis

From Forever-Fantasy.net:

Japanese magazine Gemaga has announced that their December issue will include two DVD's with various trailers from the recent Tokyo Game Show 2007, including the trailers of Final Fantasy XIII and of the new Kingdom Hearts projects. Here's a translation from their blog:

"Promotional Videos were collected one after another in the Tokyo Game Show, the DVD will contain over 130 Games, and will be about five hours worth of trailers in total. There are some trailers that have been enhanced, and some not opened to the public such as Xbox 360's "Lost Odyssey". Also there is an interview with Mr/Ms Sakaguchi who will be explaining the view points.

"Fabula Nova Crystallis FFXIII", and the original PV of "Kingdom Hearts New Projects" will be published.

EDIT:

Maiki has read the news reports of Gemaga having new Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy trailers, and checked it herself. Looks like someone miss-translated the Gemaga post, because it said that the magazine's December issue will include a twenty page Square Enix special.
Maiki bought the Gemaga's issue only to find in-depth descriptions and speculations over the TGS trailers. No, they didn't even include new screenshots.

The many "TBA" Final Fantasy games - We want more info, Square!

EGM have dedicated a page of this month's issue to the fairly large array of Final Fantasy games that have recently (and not-so-recently) been announced, yet haven't had much information divulged since then. The magazine tried their best to piece together what little info has been released.

It's a shame that one-and-a-half years have passed since Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII were announced, and yet fans still don't know much about the game's details, let alone the characters that will appear.

And despite Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core being released in Japan last September, there is still no news on an English release. No release date, no voice cast, no box art, nothing.

Okay, fans can look past the fact that Final Fantasy: Dissidia and the various Kingdom Hearts spin-offs were only just announced, but I'm sure it won't be long until fans are practically begging for any info on the games.

What ever happened to the days when Square would release information (no matter how small the tidbit) left, right and center?
Square, if you're going to announce a game, then don't forget about it for a year, and leave the fans hanging.

The trauma of Cosplay - It's a dangerous world out there!

In the world of cosplaying and conventions, there are a few cosplayers who stand out from the crowd, and have become online celebrities due to their accurate depictions of video-game characters and their costumes. But is it really all just fun and games? For these "online celebrities" it can sometimes be a dangerous thing. Crazed fans often abuse, degrade and insult them simply because they are dressed as a character that they don't like.

Adella, a popular and well-known Final Fantasy cosplayer, notes some of the scary moments she's had while cosplaying ...
