To be honest ive never seen this but it doesnt sound odd since Nintendo is a very odd development/publishing company that tends to love using hype for sales. Boy did they screw that up for the future with Windwaker.

But they couldnt have possibly known the release of Paper Mario 64 in '96 was it? Good coincidence? probably, but Nintendo isnt stupid... or maybe you guys are all just seeing things, also if anyone wants to post a screenshot id be happy to scan it with my wonderful eyes...

Screenshot of what? The fountain or of Luigi? We all know that Luigi isn't in it by now, we're looking at what "L is real 2401" means. And the first game was just "Paper Mario", not Paper Mario 64.

I've seen the so called 'Luigi's' Which had me running around the fountian (whats 64 times 3 ) of course I know their ALL hoaxs by now, it was a marketing scam to purposely not include Luigi because they didn't need to and so the green plumber could make more dough in the long run with goofy games like The Mansion.

It's called Luigi's Mansion. "The Mansion" is a PlayBoy game. XD

It's a mystery, although Yoshi bearing a message straight from the Team was what kept me playing to be honest, theres not much sense to be made from 'L is real 2???' (numbers vary)

It's the Nintendo Team, not the Yoshi Team XD And yes, it makes you feel as if there's more to be done, but the sad sad truth is that there really isn't, and there never was nor will be. Btw, it is and always has been "L is real 2401"

Well if you look at it carefully, it actually looks like it says 'Eternal Star' which would make sense since it's on a star statue. and it also looks like it has a name under it like most artists do after thay name a peice of artwork. Especially on a sculpture, and most sculptures have a plate on them that says the title of the sculpture and the name of the artist that made it. So it's probably 'Eternal Star' and just looks like 'L is real 2401' because of bad texturing at that time.

......*zooms*...aha! if youre thinking about "l is real" look very carefully at the "is"....

I actually think it is a mix of Japanese and English.

As most would agree there are 4 divisions on the top, and 3 divisions on the bottom.
(which I will herein use "T" for the top section and "B" for the bottom section; as well as numbers for division, starting from left to right).

This is just my own perceptions, I am in no way verify or denying the text's true meaning.


::TOP SECTION:: Japanese
T1: I believe is not "L", but actually the Japanese kanji 上 (romaji: ue || translation: up, higher, above).

T2: Possibly another kanji since it is the same height as T1, however to me it looks like a giant "A".

T3: Possibly katakana or hirigana, however I do not recognize any kana from it.

T4: I believe is not "2401", but the Japanese katakana コード (romaji: kodo || translation: code) with possibly a "4" and either a "1" or "!" after it. コード４１ コード４！

::Bottom Section:: English
In Japanese there are no characters that descend below the writing line as does in English (ex. q y p g j). Therefore I believe that the bottom line is in English only.

B1: "My"

B2: "Huhyhr" technically unreadable...but this is what I saw.

B3: "for"


If anyone else has studied Japanese and/or is fluent (or knows someone who is), please let us know if you see anything different. Also please let us know if anything I have translated so far bears any meaning in the Nintendo world.

Ermm, No....1st of all it says 2401 not 2041, and 2nd im sure there is some 40 yr old who lives in his mamas basement who collected all the coins and went to the statue, and nothing happened.
