I have a friend who knows the creator of nintendo and SM64 I could easily have him ask him what it means. But he probably wouldn't know since he probably doesn't have much to do with the small graphic details like the L is real 2401 sign.

And guess what, theres a new romour, "L si rof 2005"
which means 2005 is for L (luigi).
I personally think it's all a load of rubbish but deep down inside the game only the programmers know that there are real secrets lurking in obvious places.

Unless Nintendo publishes what it was intended to read, everything is just speculation. If this texture was created as a higher resolution, and real text was written down, it could have been japanese for all we know. Scaled at 32x32 it's simply unreadable.

One of these two animated gifs below is not decoded as is from the game.

Mario -------------------------- Morphed Mario

Yes the first one, Mario's head, is decoded from the game file with a program I built. The second, is a squished Mario head using some conic deformation in my program and a polygon color change so it looks like Luigi, it is not decoded from the game directly, it's my own modification inside my program.

My conclusion from all the digging and reverse engineering the game I've done: Luigi is not in Super Mario 64! Only the Mario geometry can be found in the game, no Luigi version, and its colors are red, blue, pink skin color, and brown, no signs of green there.

Now maybe someday you'll see a patch to have Luigi in SM64...

What is with the obsession with L is real 2041 anyway? What makes it more probable than "eternal star"?

You think that Nintendo designed the texture so that it would only make sense when texture blurring is on?

Look at the clouds in the sky (the real one, not your Windows startup screen) and try to look for animal shapes...In less than a minute you should at least find one that really looks like some kind of animal, it doesn't mean that they were intended to be animals shaped clouds. With such low res and blurred text, it's easy to interpret it as many different words.

So if you still believe in "L is real 2401", does it mean you still believe Luigi can be found in SM64?

You have absolutely nothing tangible to back up the "L is real 2041" claim. Let it go man Admitting you are wrong is not a sign of weakness, but not conceding anything on this admittedly far-fetch theory might be...
