Icon = shortcut to Dominion wars
Icon = ds9dw.exe I've changed the compability mode to Win98/ME but it is still slow. I've a 2,4 GHz processor, 512 DDR Ram and Geforce 4 64MB. Has anyone a secondary solution?

Change the screen setting to 16bit color. Make your screen res 1024 x 768 or lower. And when you do compatibility settings, also disable visual themes.

i had the same problem and i haven't found changing the compatiblity to help. nay other suggestions here is what happens......
When i launch DomWars, the videos play fine, but the menus stutter, and it takes forever for me to scroll my mouse over. i can barely get into a game then it randomly crashes. i am running a 2.0GHz AMD Athlon XP 512MB Ram 60-80Gig HDD Windows XP Home w/ all updates ATI Radeon 9000 w/ updates and Dom Wars won't let me update. it says "Old file not found. however, a file with the same name was found. no update done since files do not match." this all happens no matter how, where or when i install it. could it be a bad disc? Thanks, Slayer Email me at BorgSlayerHost@HotMail.com if you need to contact me for more informaion or a solution.

Hey guys, here is my piece of advice:
- disable an dual-monitor / video display I have WinXP, P4@2.66 GHz, and a GeForce card - and that helps!

I have set my Dominion Wars to 98/ME compatibility and turned off visual themes. I have also set my colors to 16bit.
Set up like this the game runs great with only a few hiccups in the menus until the game freezes. How do I fix the random freezing?

I've had the same problems and i have a system that has 3 times the req. heres what you do
On windows xp go to start> control panel and open up the display. click on the settings tab, click on the advance button and then click on the troubleshoot tab. now set the hardware acceleration to "Disable all cursor and advanced drawing acceleration. reboot and play! Don't forget to reset the acceleration settings before playing another game!!!!!!! Kbass

I dont have a problem with it running slow. it wont start. crashes just as the screen turns black. I've shut off dual monitors, change compatability, screen resolution everything and it still wont work. its been doing this on the last 3 computers I've owned.

That's because, to put is simply, on XP or Vista, this game is crap and will not work. I'm waiting for someone to create something that WILL work but nothing has ever managed to fix this problem for me, either.
