100m Sprint Tips |
|
Im seeking tips on how to get better on the 100m sprint. I am currently 2nd fastest in my school year, with 1 person just a tiny little faster then me. I know i am really good now, but what else can i do?
Another question is, how do you get stitches? When you have just eaten and you run around, your stomach gets a stitch. Whys that? should i drink lots of water before i run, and what type of food should i eat before I run (something with lots of energy that doesn't weight me down) thanks!

I don't mean to sound like an asshole but 15 sec is not that fast at all and you're second in your school?
I'm not even on the track team and I can do around 15. The fastest guy in my school can do it in 11.

i think 15 seconds for a 13 year old sounds about right though. moreover that's why he's asking for tips you knucklehead.
obviously enough, ask your coach how to improve your form/technique which is probably the most important aspect and also simply different drills you can do to improve muscular strength and endurance. bout it really. ------------------- Swing that bottle

At 13 the only thing you can really do is practise. I suggest 40m and do 110m. With stitches all you can do is improve your fitness.

Work on your form, 15 seconds obviously isn't that great. Get your start right, and make sure you do all the proper steps to building up your speed. And some other good advice is to move your arms back and fourth quickly as possible while running, it wil take a fraction off your time. Plus something that alot of beginning runners forget to do is always breathe, dont hold your breath while running it will just tire you down quicker. And yes its crucial to be hydrated before you race, I'd suggest just sipping on an sports drink before you run, drinking alot is bad and not drinking enough is probably even worse so you want to drink as much as you can but while still feeling comfortable and light.
Try these and tell me how it works out. -------------------

Squats with just your body weight, along with calf raises using only your body weight,, will strengthen the muscles in your legs, this could help improve your time if you lack power in your running.

Also try running with resistance, i.e. parachute, tyre etc.

No offence but 15 isn't all that impressive. In my school (7th Grade) 15 is liek average. Most kids get like 14 and then this one kid that seems like hes on roids got 13. I can't really talk though cuz' I suck at short distance.
Anyway, I from what I've heard you should practice running at a track and drink fluids but and eat something with carbs. ------------------- you're so gangsta i'm so thug

I think the most important part of it is the starting. Having an outrageously fast start and acceleration should take off a second or maybe 2. Just to brag I've done the 100 in 12.7 seconds.

I'm not that good at 100m nor am I an expert to judge it. Though I do know about it and how to do it, I'm just not a sprinter. At your age, keep practicing, all the time. Trying new ways. New ways of running, finishes, starts. Try starting off the floor and ask to see if it's correct, or even do your own way. Try starting on your feet, test them. Experiment. But overall, keep practicing sprinting shorter distances.

On the water thing? Don't drink too much before you race, it'll just make you get a stitch and the same with eating.
I think the reccommended is 3-4 cups 30 minutes before, and then 1-2 cups every 15 mins of exercise and keep drinking afterwards until your urine is clear. ------------------- Sign My G'book View My Art ReadTales of Oceania
