Where and when do you think it should be set?

Personally, I like the idea of ancient Asia, all of it. Everywhere from Palestine to Japan, and from Siberia to Sri Lanka. I think that setting would be great, with all the seperate Indian states, the different nations sitting along the major trade routes, etc. Asia is so diverse. In Europe, everyone's always been pretty much the same, but in Asia, eveyone's so different to one another. Indians, Chinese, Mongols, Japanese, Persians, Arabs, and more. It'd be much more interesting than Europe, I think.....

Thoughts?

well as soon as i read the thread name asia occured to me also. i was thinking they might revisit the area of shogun total war (japan) but add some of mainland asia, such as korea, china, mongolia, even across to india and stuff.

but what i personally would find more interesting is a total war in south and central america. in the time of the aztecs or incas or mayas. that would be really cool. it would bring the game back slightly in terms of unit numbers i would think. but it may add new kinds of battles, leaning more towards smaller skirmish style warfare. but yea, south american clan wars would be good i reckon.

The immediate problem I see with South America is that there were relatively few factions compared with Europe and Asia. Even before the Spanish turned up, there was only ever really one major faction at a time, cos even the Incas, Mayans, Aztecs and Toltecs sort of took it in turns to "be tha daddy".

Again, I can see a problem here with regards to the factions. Although North America had a large number of native tribes, there still weren't a great number of factions when you consider the size of the continent.

Also, native Americans were nomadic, following wherever the buffalo went rather than building cities and staying put. This might take quite a lot of thought from the CA team to get it to work.

theres no need to call people fools shadowking, its completely uneccessary. and you may be right about the new world idea, but then you may be wrong. we are just giving opinions so dont start insulting peoples ideas.

I wouldn't mind seeing an Asian version come to be, although to be honest, I would far prefer if we went slightly more international with the total war. That's just my opinion there, I'd be perfectly happy with Asia alone.

The next one will probably be set some time in Asia, or will be set in Europe during the Napoleonic era.

I'm thinking that Asia is more likely due to the fact that Europe has been the setting of CA's last three games and they might be looking for a change in scenery.

In regards to the Americas, I don't think North America would work well, but central and South America hold potential. The Aztecs and Incas were just dominant powers in their regions, but there were many smaller kingdoms throughout the continent.

I'd personally LIKE to see a Rome 2: total war, because I really prefered the way that every faction has different units unlike Medieval 2, which has many units in all factions. I prefered the diplomatic thing in Medieval 2 with the relationship, cause in Rome total war it was stupid. I also prefered in Medieval 2 that there were no clones.

I wouldnt really like a rome 2 total war myself. Asia would be pretty cool and the large amounts of units able yto run on future computers would make it ideal due to the massive sized armies in the east. I dont know Asian history very well so what civilizations would be in it? China , Japan , India , Mongolia UUUMMMM???
