Yeah i hope they do throw in some better rivals then these two. But Mario and Luigi have a good rival Bowser.
¬¬p No way. He's always there just to be a thorn in there side. You should have seen Bowser in Paper Mario. I'll explain it to you through PM so I won't wpoil it for others who want to buy it.

re: Wario and Waluigi

Get rid of Wario? Nah, Wario's far too much a part of the Mario Universe to get rid of him. He's got his own series of games, his own style, and he's hilarious. I can't imagine Nintendo ditching Wario.

As for Waluigi.. I wish he'd never even came into existence. He's a poor attempt at giving Luigi a rival, but they've never shown him being Luigi's rival in anything. He's just some ugly looking guy that doesn't like Luigi, there's no relation to anyone with him, no background history about him, he's never been a part of a real game yet! Plus, his name is the most uninspired thing I've ever heard of.. I mean, c'mon, Waluigi? It hurts me to even say Waluigi.

But, these two characters are here to stay in the Mario world, Wario especially. I've also heard the speculation about Wario being Mario's.. uh, odd evil cousin, but I dunno if there's any truth to it. I'm sure Peach and Daisy aren't related in any way, though, and Waluigi is more than likely not related to Wario, or Luigi either.

re: Wario and Waluigi

I've just been reading through this thread and i'm suprised about the amount of people who dislike Wario and Waluigi! My favourite character in the mario series is Wario! When I have my mates round we always fight over who get's to play Wario in the mario party games!Admittedly, Waluigi is a bit of an uninspired name...Wario is called wario 'cos the 'W' is 'M' turned upside down , therefore (according to Nintendo, or so i imagine) making them rivals. But with Waluigi they've just added 'Wa'. A bit of a stupid move i think. Plus, i wanna know where exactly they live in the Mushroom Kingdom!

re: Wario and Waluigi

Well, Werlin, I suppose most of the people (me included) don't like Wario and Waluigi just because of their looks. Wario is fat, small, has an ugly face and small feet, while Waluigi is tall, thin, has a long nose and an ugly face too. I just don't like bad looking characters. They seem so stupid to me... -____-
But at least, Wario has still a fan base big enough to get his own games, like "Wario Ware Inc. Mega Party Game$", which was released some weeks ago, I think.
Still, I think Wario Ware for Game Boy Advance was a crappy game, and that's why I won't even bother getting the GameCube version I mentioned above.

re: Wario and Waluigi

I'm not exactly a Wario fanatic (Out of his games i've only played wario land 1 + 2) but i do prefer to play him in spin-off games, only because he's a sort of bad guy in comparison to the rest, and i like playing the bad guy sometimes.

re: Wario and Waluigi

Since you mention them YellowComet, I think WarioWare is a good game, it makes me laugh at times, gets quite weird. But anyway, the GBA version is a lot better than the GCN's, as they are essentially the same game just, the GCN's version has a stupid cut-scene that takes 4 seconds between each game, and it gets really frustrating especially when the game gets going fast.

I also say Wario is a great character, a big, ugly money grubbing guy that hates Mario. He's sort of the reverse of Mario, in a way, so simply flipping the M on Mario seemed clever to me. He looked original, as well, and now there's a Waluigi? They just threw the Wa from Wario, onto Luigi's name, didn't have any thought to it at all and hardly seemed clever. As well, his looks were just a rip-off of Wario's anyway, except overly tall and lanky. Wario's a great character, hilarious, and pretty strong, while Waluigi will probably never earn my personal respect as a character, he's far too shallow and besides, Nintendo didn't even make him! They just approved the useage in Camelot's Mario Tennis game, and since then have decided to throw him in for additional people to play as.

re: Wario and Waluigi

Wario might be kind of a bad guy, but I remember Mario also being one some years ago. I'm sure you all remember "Wario Land" for Game Boy. Your mission was to get the giant gold statue of Princess Toadstool. Once Wario found the statue at the end of the game, Mario suddenly came using a plane, and took the statue. That was kinda "stealing" it.

So Wario and Waluigi are not the only ones who can be considered bad guys sometimes. ^^

re: Wario and Waluigi

I wouldn't call Wario and Waluigi neutral... Though they don't do much, they always want to steal the show of Mario and Luigi, like they wanted to do for the first time in Mario Tennis, for Nintendo 64. And I also remember Wario being Mario's bad guy in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins (or was it seven?). He was darn difficult to beat, and I only managed it once...
But yeah, Wario and Waluigi are getting more "soft" each time, just like Bowser is. And I think it's kinda funny how things are going with them.

Get rid of Waluigi, and keep Wario.

NO MORE "WA" NAMES!!! That was good for Wario, but who wants a "Wabowser" or "Wapeach" or "Wafawful"?

re: Wario and Waluigi

I reckon there shud be a proper Wario game which explains where Waluigi comes from...it could be like Wario gets a message from someone and finds out he has a brother (I know it's not confirmed Waluigi is Wario's brother), and he goes on a mission to find him. They could meet up in the middle of the game, and then something happens which determines the plot for the rest of the game...it could be a fully 3D RPG for the gamecube...or they could make it 2.5D, like paper mario. I wish Nintendo would develop their characters more, they don't seem to do much with anyone else except Mario and Luigi...

re: Wario and Waluigi

I don't really care about Waluigi, and I can guess well enough where he comes from. My theory is (and you can agree or disagree with this) that Wario and Waluigi are brothers, but Wario always hided him for some reason. When he appeared in Mario Tennis 64, I didn't think much of him, though. He is just another character to chose in the Mario spin-off games, being not really important to me. And I REALLY hate how he looks...
