Is he future Dante? Sparda? Or just a random guy? Or even Vergil? OR NONE OF THE ABOVE?

Stronger only in DT? Coz I thought Alastor is stronger than Yamato.

Yes, they did mess up. I thought about it and it's really confusing to think that Yamato turns into Sparda sword, than the Sparda swords turns into Force Edge. Perhaps it has something to do with that pendant Dante and Vergil has.

It was just some gimmick unlockable, the Sparda is the true form of the Force Edge, the whole LDK mode was thrown together hastily, with a re-skinned Alastor for the Yamato and a Sparda transformation thrown in for flavour, it bares little to no relation to the actual plot .

yeah i was all happy with the yamamoto when i first unlocked Sparda until i saw its just another skin for Alastor its kinda weaker actually its reach isnt as long as Alastors but it looks kool at least

I was extremely disappointed with the Yamato; it's just an extremely poorly re-skinned Alastor (the electricity is still there, for God's sake. ). The DT transformation is quite cool though.

No. He has Yamato, which DTs into the Sparda (since as DMC3 shows the Force Edge is sealing Hell shut).

im cosplaying sparda to an anime con and ive had the yamato sparda and the force edge made for my cosplay hmm i wonder if i should still use the force edge in my cosplay

Don't worry about it, both the Yamato and Rebellion were given to Vergil and Dante by Sparda, so it's entirely reasonable that he used them in battle himself, I mean, once he used the Force Edge to seal the portal closed he had to fight with something, right ? As for having both the Sparda and Force Edge, you can just have them both so you can show them both, no one expects you to build a sword that actually transformed for a cosplay .

i figured so i was planning on having yamato on my side like a regular katana the sparda hanging on my back vertically hanging by magnets so it looks like it dos in the game and the force edge hanging the same way but diagonally does that sound reasonable for the character?
