Original Parasite Eve Movie - 1997 |
|
I just finished watching the movie (downloaded off the Net) after years of searching. I feel like Indiana Jones now.
Anyway, I like to tell the readers here that the plot summary obtained here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasite_Eve is sadly WRONG.

I will now provide you guys with an accurate plot (as taken from the movie itself).
First thing ya guys must understand in this movie was - where did the name "Eve" comes from? That answer was given in the game by the character Kiyomi Nagashima. You see ... the Japanese character "Kiyomi" is "Eve". If ya guys happened to watch the movie, ya guys could likely to find scenes where Kiyomi will "change" the way she speaks and give a deep look. First time I notice this was when she stop near her car, turn and look at the doctor and said that "She was waiting for him for a very long time." It didn't make sense to me till the end of the movie. But when I finished the movie, it did make sense. It was "Eve" who was waiting for the Doctor and she spoke out openly. In the Wikipedia, they said that Eve was able to obtain sperm from the Doctor after attacking him in the lab. Wrong here - he had voluntarily gave it (by having sex with Kiyomi). After that, he was resting his head on her chest and she whispered to him - explaining how she have made his wife, Kiyomi fall in love with him because Eve knew that he was the only one smart enough to culture her cells.

According to the Wikipedia, the Doctor's assistance - Sachiko Asakura was taken over by the Mitochondria and Asakura was working on the Culture.
This is wrong, Asakura didn't work on the Culture but she was used by Mitochondria to deliver a message to the Human race. But after that, the Mitochondria left her body and she wasn't in its influence. I thought that the Mitochondria had used Asakura's body to have sex with the Doctor, thus using her body as a vessel to collect the Sperm. This was not true either. The Mitochondria collected the Sperm and was going to inject it into the 12 year old Mariko herself. And Yes, Eve can do that - she could change her hand into liquid form and deliver the load directly into Mariko's vagina. Another mistake in Wikipedia was that there was a child which grew from this "relationship." The movie never showed this. Matter a fact, the Doctor managed to stop her before she was able to, so I cannot be certain that any rejection could have happened if such "impregnation" were to occur. I remember the dialog in the game where Maeda said that a rejection did occurred and both the child and the father died together. I have no idea why there was a dialogue such as this in the game when there was nothing of a sort in the movie. Matter a fact, it kinda of annoying. If the Mitochondria were powerful enough to change a person's physical state such as change to Mariko's uterus (probably to make her more mature than she was, thus allowing her to become more adult-like), then how hard could it be for Mitochondria to override the Immune System and ensure that a new being created. In the movie, Eve did not use the Sperm, nor did any child was born from this relationship.

That plot summary is from the book not the movie.
Read the book then start a thread like this one. Hint: The movie took a dump on the book's ending.

Hmmm .... Funny ... I thought I wrote "Original Parasite Eve Movie - 1997" as the title of the thread ...
Oh yeah, I DID. This thread is about the MOVIE. Go and watch it before ya comment on it here. Furthermore, the Parasite Eve 1 game did not mention whether it have taken the plot from the Novel or the Movie, but it is possible that it have taken the plot from the Novel cos in the Movie, Eve was not portrayed as some evil monster, hell-bent in destroying the World. However, IF it is true that the plot in the Novel shows that a child have been born (which did not happen in the movie), then it could explain why Maeda have stated that a rejection had occurred and the Ultimate Being which was born in Japan had died in it. Problem here could be that, no one - including myself (who have learn to write and speak Japanese) have seen the original novel outside Japan.
