You're talking about the part right after the scientists made the portal, right? Are you using the long jump? Hit the crouch button as you're jumping.

the original half life is full of jumping puzzles. this one (the first xen level) is one that involves waiting until the platforms rotate into useful positions.

i try to crouch while jumping but it doesnt work. I didnt listen to the scientist, dunno how to long jump. hlp plz

And it's unwise to disregard the help you get.

u get massive help in the training area and as everyone else said listen to the sci just before the portal where u get mega weapons

You skip the parts where the scientist talk to you? I love listening to them, its a break from tiny hallways packed with headcrabs and Voltigons or whatever.
