Half-Life on Disc and Vista

My friend just found his old disc of Half-Life and I was wondering if it worked on Vista. I'm thinking of borrowing it from him to play through for nostalgia but I don't know if it works on Vista and he's playing it right now so I can't test it. I know the Steam version works so I wanted to check if the disc does, or if it may need a patch or something.

re: Half-Life on Disc and Vista

The disc most likely requires Steam to work

re: Half-Life on Disc and Vista

I actually figured that. I was just wondering if there would be any problems with it running on Vista, like will it require compatability mode or will it even run. I appriciate the help though and I think I'll get Steam.

re: Half-Life on Disc and Vista

If you have a disk copy of half-life, steam is not required considering its age.

re: Half-Life on Disc and Vista

I think I'll just cave and buy my own copy off Steam. I want it anyways so I might as well get it for myself plus I know that works on Vista so I'm all set. Thanks for all you help guys.

re: Half-Life on Disc and Vista

I already have Half-Life 2 and all the later installments I just don't have the original or its expansions. I'm going to get the Half-Life Anthology set
