A Simple Nihilanth Strategy For Half-Life Well basically, I have been reading through alot of the walkthroughs on the internet lately and I have been looking at the way to defeat Nihilanth, the last boss. I have beaten this and it is so easy and it doesn't require jumping inside his head or anything like that. And here's what I done. Basically, you will start on a platform and you will hear the monster going on with a bit of jibberish and then the platform will fall. Get behind the triangle shaped rock and it will block it's attacks. Use a machine gun or Magnum to take out three yellow crystals on the walls. Then, use the Gluon Gun and the Rocket Launcher to blow Nihilanth to pieces and it will ascend and blow up. It is as simple as that. Some Notes: - I have the Game Of The Year edition of this game. - Before I done this, I got hit by the green light four times, yet no hits was taken out of Nihilanth. - You must have all of the Gluon Gun, Rocket, and preferably Shotgun ammo. During the process of getting through the Xen and Interloper levels, use all other guns and/or weapons. - You will not get hit by Nihilanth using this method but other aliens will spawn and come after you. If something starts hitting you, throw and bomb on it or beat it with the crowbar if close. The battle will not be long so you won't get hit too much. - Do not forget to get rid of the yellow crystals on the wall. And that's it. If you are at the last boss, please try this strategy and see if it works for you because it worked fine for me and it makes a real difficult and confusing battle go down quick and easy. Walrus | |

About the "jibberish", I think it sounds like "I'd like to talk to you, alone" - and it sorta sounds like G-man...
but as for the strategy, I think i'll try it!  -------------------  | |

Yeah, it really works well. Other ways expressed on the internet I find too hard, such as jumping in its head and things like that.

wow, i'd never actually tried that. i always thought you had to be inside his head.
on difficult, it took a full gluon gun, and two or three rockets to the head before he died. and that was AFTER all of the yellow health orbs were gone. | |

Well i JUST finished the game. About 15 minutes ago and i used noclip to get on his head. It still took a few rocket shots just to destroy him with the rockets.

yes. and, we dont NEED a strategy for that (i kill it without any trouble), but you can always post in in the game's Helps/Guides/FAQs if you want to. ------------------- | |

Landing in it's head makes it a bit easier since you can go crazy with the gluon gun. After I ran out of ammo for it I would jump over it and shoot machine gun grenades at it.

even easier:
hide behind that spikes on the ground in a position where nihilanth cannot see you but you can see a small part of his head. this way, he won't even attack you, while you can take out the crystals and then shoot at him directly. attack until his head opens, then get out of your cover, jump up and finish him. no problem at all. in fact, this was the easierst boss i've killed so far. | |

I tried every thing but when i beat him he gets all of that lighning all over him. but the game never ends

Thank you so effin much. all the walkthroughs i read said you HAVE to land on his head. Thanks to you, i just beat it by going nuts with the gauss gun and a lot of rockets.
