Yes. And it was designed for Windows 98, not 95.
most id Software games from Quake on have no problems running on XP. Their source code is very easy to modify and has been released under GPL. Basically if Gamespy Arcade supports it, it works on XP. ------------------- http://www.loudandfrench.com

I got it running this way-
-Copy all the files from the CD onto your hard drive. -Create a shortcut to the setup/install program. -Go into the shortcut's properties and change the compatibility to 'Windows 98'. (No need to change anything else.) -Run the program (obviously). Quake 2 will install to your hard drive. I got a message about there being no CD drive present (or words to that effect) but it still installed. -Find a patch online called 'q2-3_20-x86-full', and run it. -Play the game. Worked for me! | |

I'm having trouble with water features in Quake 2 on Windows XP. Everytime I go UNDER water, the screen blacks out and the game closes, returning me to the windows desktop. Nothing happens if my character simply walks in the water...just when he goes UNDER water. Is there a patch or setting that can help me remedy the problem? Thanks!
