Why didn't they pick a better band?

Probably because Aerosmith is one of the best classic rock bands there is. And the fact that they are well known only gives more reason to make a game about them.

After a little bit of research, I found that they are one of the most famous American classic Rock Bands. Most of their songs are so well known. There's really only a very small list of better bands to choose from.

Also, reading through [this] artical might bring to better understanding of why they chose Aerosmith.

I agree with FARTzilla. Aerosmith has got many songs and is also well known. Besides, it's not completely Aerosmith's music. I've read that it's like 60% Aerosmith and 40% something else.

It's true. Everytime you change the stage, there are 2
songs NOT from Aerosmith, 2 songs that ARE from Arerosmith
and an Aerosmith encore. I have the game. Then there
are the bonus songs that you can buy in "The Vault" (like the store in Guitar Hero 3.

Aerosmith is a good choice. I generally stay away from one band games.

but IF they manage Guitar hero: ACDC I'll be sure to get it.

They probably will be doing more Band-dedicated GHs. They are already making a Metallica one.
