re: Disc Read Error/Laser Problems [II] |

I've had a couple PS2's and have run into your problems. I notice that as they get old, certain types of discs no longer work. Starting with DVD's, then blue and black-backed discs (some PS2 games and all PS1 games), and then eventually some silver-backed ones. When you bought your PS2 used, it was likely a few years old as it is. I do notice PS2's are still being sold as new for about $129, which is probably a lot more then you want to pay for one. If you want another used PS2 (I love that system, so I'd probably get my third one in a couple years after this one dies out), I'd try finding a used one that has only been in use for a year or so.

Well, I was actually thinking about just saving up for a PS3, but would all of my PS2 stuff work with a PS3?

I don't own a PS3 myself but I have heard that the new cheaper PS3's do not have backwards compatibility, and I'm not sure if all of the PS2 games were backwards compatible on the other kinds of PS3's as it is. You'll likely find a better answer on the general PS3 forum somewhere since I don't own that console myself, only going on things I've thought I've read elsewhere.

Ok, Thanks for the advice.
Well, I got so pissed off friday because my NCAA 08 no longer worked and being video gameless, I became desperate. I opened up the PS2 and cleaned it out, and put it back together. I turn it on and wait only to find out I broke the disc tray by forcing it out and back in while it was open. Then Saturday, I was trying to fix it. I took off the disc tray to look under it, but then realized I didn't even need it. So now my PS2 works with the cover off, and I use the disc tray coverer like the slimline popping up thingy, only I have to pop up mine myself. ------------------- Alle Hagel Die Übermäßigen

re: Disc Read Error/Laser Problems [II] |
quote Cpash depends on the size. i got a 60gb ps3 and i have NO issues at all. that's with the ps3 itself or ps2 games or whatever. the 40gb has NO backwards compatibility. means no ps2 items at all. the 80gb has a different emulator or whatever than the 60gb so it does play ps2 games but not as many. and i think the 20gb has very limited backwards compatability. but the 20 and 60gb ps3's are no longer in production as now they're 40 and 80. now with prices lowered $100, u also can find places that offer free games. i heard someone got a 80gb ps3, 3 ps3 games and a movie for what i paid for my 60gb ps3. -------------------

Mostly it's my RPG games and my purple disks on the back side that give me a hard time loading. Max Loading Time: 2 minutes

Actually, blue-backed discs are the first kind of discs that stop working for me in PS2's and the silver-backed ones last the longest, so that is an odd situation.

Hey all,
I recently got a Max Drive. But the thing is, it doesn't work! I've tried over 100 times to get it work but it just doesn't! Can you give me some advice or some help to get it to work? I'm really stuck and it annoys the crap out of me. ------------------- You're a moofty, tbh. The Createst Job on the Earth
