re: Disc Read Error/Laser Problems [II] |

Perhaps you have a bad Max Drive, Chelsea. I'd return it and exchange it for another one. If it still doesn't work, you could try getting another brand like Action Replay.
Anyway, my 7-year-old PS2 is having trouble reading my Kingdom Hearts copy. I checked the disc; it's clean of scratches and dirt. But my PS2 reads all my other games just fine. I have to restart my PS2 many times just to play Kingdom Hearts, and sometimes that doesn't even work. Also, even if I'm lucky enough to get Kingdom Hearts to start up, it just ends up freezing within half an hour of playing. Does anyone have any idea why my PS2 only acts up with this game? Like I said, the disc is clean, and it works flawlessly with all my other games. I'm really tired of being unable to play my favorite game, so can someone help me out? I don't want to have to buy a new copy. ------------------- ![]()

It's the age of the system, not the game. As the PS2 gets older certain games will just stop working for it. It wound up happening to me for my first PS2, especially with some of my favorite games, and none of the replacement games I bought worked either (as in I bought another ESPN NHL Hockey since mine had stopped working and my new one didn't work either).
Oh, as for the previous question, I had the same problem with both my GameShark and AR Max as my PS2 aged, but they both worked fine with a new PS2 I bought. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

I have had mine since it came out almost 8 years ago, and when i switch it on and press reset, it goes to the screen with the browser/ system configuration place, so i press reset again, goes to the screen, i keep doing this until it works, but now even if I spend an hour doing this it still doesn't work, with any game, new or old, if anyone can help me i will be most grateful.

How long did you wait for the game to start? you have to wait like 10/20 seconds for it to start after you insert the disc.

I recently replaced my old PS2 with one of the slimline models. So far, so good. I had a similar problem in that, while most of my games played fine, others just would not read at all or would freeze up during opening credits. I'd cracked it open and cleaned it several times, which helped at first. But eventually, I had to give in to the fact that my PS2 was trying to tell me something.

One of the things i found out recently was the reset thing doesnt seem to work if you directly reset the console, like if im already playing a game & i change the disc(& reset the console) without turning the PS2 off it would show disc error for me but if i shut it down for a few seconds then change the disc it worked fine.

I place a game in my slim PS2 and the Playstation 2 logo comes up but then black.
After searching through the first couple of pages I can't seem to find an answer. It's happened for 2 games, Matrix: Path of Neo and V8 Supercars (ToCA 2 or something in other countries). ------------------- ~ TECH FORUMS ~ http://tech.forum5.com

Problem.
When I try to play anything (CD's, DVD's, PSX and PS2 games), it just hangs in that dynamic background thingy for a while, then returns to the main screen. I have a black Slim PS2, and I use it like I should. This is my 3th PS2 that has this problem, any suggestions? ------------------- Also known as Dodge, Backstabber, Purnanche... When or if your machine falls down and certain games do not work, for example, blues and dvds wont work, like mine, open it up and there is a circular thing inside. Get a p1 game, blue/CD game, silver backed games, and a PS2 DVD. Turn the thing and try all the 4 cds till they all work and you solve the problem. You gotta keep turning to a certain position until all 4 types of CD's work in the PS2. As for blue discs not working.. they are CD-roms and thus they are lighter but some tape around the rim on top of the game should weigh it down.

My PS2 turn on, but the system diagnosis thing, I have no idea where to find it. My system turns on and you can go to the browser screen and go to where the memory card and disc screen are located, and you can put in a brand new disc, it says reading disc for like, 2 seconds and stops. Please tell me whats wrong with my PS2.
~Thanks | |

i kinda have a problem like this. my ps2 will still work fine once the disk loads but no matter wat disk i use it takes like three minuets for it to load. i tried my resident evil four game i got like a week ago and when i first put it in it took a minute and a damn half to read it. i tried everything. slowing down the disk speed, turning it verticle, everything. i can only conclude that my ps2 has become *bleep* and i yell at it daily for bieng *bleep*
