Yay!
Also if you notice this happening again I suggest you open up your PS2 and clean it out. Make sure you check these two threads out. Neoseeker's DIY Guide for the PS2 and this one here PS2 do it yourself guide Warning: You should note opening your PS2 to do the cleaning breeches your warranty on your system. Do this at your own risk. ------------------- ![]() Credit: 2pac4ever

Ok, I am not sure what the problem is, but I just got a ps2 slim for Christmas. It worked fine for a week or so but then just today it stopped. When I turn it on, it goes to the main menu ( where it says BROWSER and SYSTEM CONFIG.)
But when i put a disk in it acts like its about to play a game. but it doesnt. It just stays black. please help! Thanks in advance.

Interesting. Have you tried a few different games on the system with the same response? Or is it just one game that you are noticing the problem with?

Come to think of it, the only game that worked (somewhat) was GTA san andreas. The thing was, that it acted slow. Basicaly to the point where I decided to just stop and unplug my ps2 and give it a rest.
But I have tried more than 4 games all having the same original problem.

Alright. So it worked fine for a week and now it's just being stubborn? I'm not really sure what the problem is but I'm thinking it's the laser. Since you just got it for Christmas I suggest taking it back to the store and exchanging it.

Alright. I have a problem. I have a weird clicking noise in my PS2. It doesn't click while I play something but after about 20 minutes of play it usually clicks continually and freezes.
I have opened the PS2 and cleaned the lens but what else can I do because that didn't help? -------------------

If you've done the lens cleaning, then your PS2 no longer works. Happened with mine and I wound up buying a used PS2 later on. I take it your PS2 is quite old?

Ouch, mine was 4 1/2 years old when mine went under. I even had to keep it because the used PS2 I bought after it couldn't read my large 32MB memory card, so my old PS2 could read it still and I'd use it to swap files with memory cards that would work. Seeing how you already tried to fix the lens, I figure you already air dusted the inside? Probably a last-stitch effort there.
