Yes, I know that this has been suggested before. I searched the first 20 pages and found nothing, and since it's also not in the index I decided to make a new thread.
My suggestion is for a forum (probably in the Lounge category) with the topic of gaming. This would entail discussion of any video game news, game companies, influential people, and most importantly, video games in general. I think that a forum for this would be great because it allows for much more discussion topics than would be found in the general game system forums. It would combine every gaming fan together, and could help create a better feeling of community among Neoseeker members, which I know is an issue that some seekers feel that we face. I am sure that most everyone reading this thread is thinking the same thing: Take it to Loungin'. Which could work, I agree. However, most of the time threads pertaining to these topics are drowned out by other threads, that are much more general. Because of this, I think it would be wise to create a forum solely for the discussion of video games. Also, look at the topics in Loungin'. In the first 5 pages, only two threads have any ties to gaming. Two. This shows how hard it is to maintain any discussions regarding video games in Loungin'. Another problem people will probably say is that this will open the door to flaming amongst fanboys. But, I don't think we have that many closed minded people on Neoseeker, and those people would be content sticking to their respective game sections. That being said, I know that some will try and infiltrate the forum and spread the word of their favorite company, and I know that could become and issue. But, I don't see it becoming so problematic that the forum becomes counterproductive. Edit: I found the previous thread, which you can see here. Yeah, it is the third time I see this being suggested, but I can't find the other ones.
I was against this before, but I have changed of opinion now. I think that fanboysm would be a bit of a problem, but not enough to take this suggestion down. I can see a lot of discussion comming from some specific threads.  ------------------- | |

The other day I started thinking about this suggestion again, and thought about the possible fanboyism, then I thought of sort of a solution, why not break it up into three different forums, General Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. Of course, there are some things that couldn't fit in there, like developer
news, and stuff like that, but even if the people just got a thread in the forum for each company might be enough. I support either way. -------------------  | |

Thing is, I think that would be counterproductive from what I envision. I think one forum would help mix the different communities, and put an end to the hostility between the communities. Like I said though, I don't think it's a big enough issue to separate the forums; in fact, most people own a console from more than one company, so there is little fanboyism in the more mature members. I've thought about it a lot, and I honestly can't see it becoming a big issue.

I thought about this suggestion the other day, and there's really so much that could fit under this topic, such as which of the latest systems to get, talk about the latest news, which version of multiplatform games are better... so much more that could fit.

I have supported this before and I will continue to do so. This could, hopefully, merge the two communities together and have a place for gaming news, etc. It would take all the gaming parts of Loungin' out and put it into the General Gaming forum. I am sure activity would not be an issue more so as the fanboy flaming that is sure to occur. With some (slightly) heavy rules and good moderation, I am sure that even that will not be a problem.

Plus, with the addition of GameGrep (several months ago, but that's beside the point) and the updated News section, it would be a good place to discuss those articles.
I just think a relaxed place to discuss video games in general would be awesome. -------------------

This is a good idea. Fanboyism should not be enough to derail the suggestion, as punishments can be made known to those who post mindlessly fanboyish comments, which would warn others in the future.
I don't think seperating them by developer would be a good idea, because there is already the General Wii/XBox 360/PS3 forums anyway. ------------------- And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?

About the news/GameGrep, I've seen so many discussions I've wanted to talk about, but not entirely sure where to put them. I saw one about a Playboy model playing games, and didn't entirely know where to put it, since the video game discussions I've put in loungin' haven't exactly been gigantic hits.

Moderating that forum would be as hellish as moderating Loungin'! LOL.
I digress, I've always been supportive of the idea. But we would need a team of dedicated moderators because having fanboys of different consoles is a massive flame bomb ready to go off. I'm in support but it has to be done right. But there are always topics of general discussion that would be good for this forum. ------------------- | |
