Colin Mcrae 3 is so slow..... |
|
Can anybody tell me why Colin Mcrae 3 on PC runs so slowly?.. i more than have the recommended specs. on the box, i have a Pentium 4 2ghz, 768mb PC133 ram, Geforce 4 4400 TI 128MB graphics card, 160GB of hard drive space, no other apps. running while the game is.. yet playing it in 1600 x 1200 (have a sony trinitron 19" monitor), 1280 x 1024 or 1024 x 768 with draw distance set to full and all other graphics options on the highest setting the game is practically in slow motion, unplayable, why??????? and a friend of mine got the game, he has the Geforce 4 4600 TI card, 2 ghz athlon processor and 1GB of 333 DDR Ram, it doesn't run on his PC either... is there nothing that can be done to make it run smoother?..

I have the same problem with these specs: AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 40GB 7200 RPM HD, 512MB DDR-RAM, GeForce 3 Pro 64MB DDR-RAM, SoundBlaster Audigy. It should be good enough to run CM3 at maximum settings but all I get is lag. It's like I'm driving in slow-motion like you said. It sure proves that Codemasters sucks. I have the same problems when running TOCA Race Driver.

I think it's a "sound-heavy" game (?). I'm running an xp2000, 1Gig memory and geForce4 MX440, and it kept stuttering and freezing up. I read this elsewhere and it worked for me: open DxDiag and lower the sound acceleration part way or all the way. It wrecks the music in the menu sections, but not bad otherwise. Fixed the slow frame rate and freeze-ups for me.

I'm running it on a 650Mhz laptop with integrated 3d card and sound card.
I only get minimal stalls on levels with loads of forestry. Graphics... 1400x1168x16(i think) screen, draw distance is 5 and fsaa is off. Sound quality and texture are high. Funny thing is, when i turn the settings down i get a slower performance

quote Mr_BigglesI had my old mainboard Albatron PX845PEV Pro with a P4 2Ghz processor, 256DDR Ram and an Elsa Gladiac VGA, it runs smooth, very smooth with all the settings at high levels. Then I Upgraded my mainboard to MSI 865PE Neo2 ..... to my surprise and disappointment the game started to stutter and choppy ... unplayable too, what happened? I just thought that my new mainboard's better than the old one, does anybody know why? I reformatted my hardrive and installed a fresh OS .... the game still sucked. I Downloaded and installed the latest drivers too.
