RFS (Requests, Feedback, & Suggestions)

Ok folks, I decided that the forum might benefit from this kind of thread. It gives people a chance to discuss any concerns they might have about Neoseeker in general and this Forum, or me, in specific.

This is not to be used as a chat, it still follows all the rules of both Site and Forum, but it will give you a place to discuss something that doesn't strictly belong in this forum.

re: RFS (Requests, Suggestions, and Feedback)

I was discussing my issue. there are too many rules on what we can and can't say, we can't say anything twice. whats up with that? I mean I asked a question about AR and that other person said to ask it on a dead thread so i did and no answer. and when I answer question you guys delete it. whats up with that you guys have too much power.

re: RFS (Requests, Suggestions, and Feedback)

The rules are there to bring structure to the forum. Without that structure, it would quickly become difficult trying find the discussions and/ or info you are looking for. Multiple threads on the same topic simply clutter up the forum, making it harder to find the other threads.

You'll also find that forum regulars quickly become tired of answering the same questions over, and over again.

As for the so-called dead threads, well, the only dead thread is one that has been closed. The moment someone posts in an older thread, they bring new life to that thread.

I delete posts for a variety of reasons: Redundancy, spam, flames, or general bad attitude. I will also delete posts that don't really belong in the thread they were posted in. Most times I will let the poster know why I am deleting a specific post. Just because I delete a post, doesn't mean it was a bad post, sometimes it was simply put in the wrong place, or it might need a re-write to make it more understandable.

As for having too much power. The amount I have was decided by the creators of this private site. The site belongs to them, therefore they get to decided how things work.

And really, I don't have that much power, and I have to potentially account for every action I do take using that very limited power.

Now... what specific rules do you have a problem with, and why do you have a problem with it?

You know in the bottom of the page. Where you can look for previous threads? It doesn't work. I tried to look for threads by using that, but it never worked. Also, if it did work, would you have to type in the exact words to find that thread, or just a part of it and it will give you a list? Has this work for anyone?

I don't find the thread search so useful, especially in large forums like Lougin'. Sometimes, I end up getting a bunch of threads that aren't related to the topic or thread I'm searching for.
I find it pretty mysterious for people to find very old threads(like a year old) in Loungin' and say "Hey, it's a duplicate thread. Here's the link."

re: RFS (Requests, Suggestions, and Feedback)

The Search feature was put in place mainly for the Hardware, and reviews aspect of the Site. Using it is a bit of a hit & miss proposition if you are looking for something in the threads. Contrary to popular belief, the discussion boards are not the main focus, nor purpose, of this Site. That is why a lot of the forums have their own Index listing. To make it easier to locate specific topics within that forum.

Game, and quiz threads are not all bad, provided that they are organized, and posters follow the rules. Unfortunately, too many posters like to use them simply to boost their post count. (Why? I've never been able to figure that out. ) Popcorn, and Stupid Question/ Stupid Answer threads are particularly notorious in that regard. I've seen, and ended up shutting down, way too many of the things. >_<

I might consider a game/ quiz thread, provided that someone runs it by me for approval first. I'd be looking for something that was well thought out, and clearly set-up before I'd give that approval, so put some thought into it first before PMing me with a proposal for such a thread.

even though this is all up to solitare, i have seen these, and they always turn to spma after awhile. If there is a letter that no one can get a word for (such as Z) they Usually say " zoo- the place i am going this summer" but maybe solitare can try it, since harvest moon has a lot of stuff in it

As you can see, after some consideration, I decided to give it a trial run. If people can play nicely it will stay open, in not, well.....
