The 360 is only worth 10 addition points, and costs far more time than it is worth. If you want to see great improvements in kudos score, master the power slide with the rear wheel drive cars, and connect the gates into combos with power slides/fades. I've averaged 3,720 kudos per arcade race - many of the races if not all can be run as one single continuous combo. In ym experience the 360 has never been necessary, save in situations where a collision with a rival car has spun me out of control... then j-turns and 360s can come into play to get your car back on track (but rarely).

follow-up on scoring...
Kudos Calculation: Temporary kudos score divided by 100, multiplied by the current trick count, multiplied by 5 example: I maneuver for 200 kudos(perhaps 5 gates and 11 slides), and get a trick count of 16X for a bonus of 160. the bonus is worth 160 because of the sixteen (16) slides, times kudos score of 200 divided by 100 (2), times five (5) = 160 For a total combo score of 360. If none of the tricks were linked it would only be worth the basic 200. Once you get really proficient at wracking up combos, you'll find that you can trick entire tracks even through the difficult stretches, and your combos can last 2-10 laps with bonuses of many thousand. My best examples of this are: Arcade Race - Easy in New York, where you only need 800 for the gold. I scored 8,377 by running it as one combo; Professional Season - Race 6 (Total Lap Challenge) in San Fransico. The target was 1400 for the gold, with kudos bonuses for 6 laps and above. I ignored the temptation to try for a bunch of laps and raced only 5 (no bonus), but I linked all 5 laps into one combo for a score of 8,265. You can do the same, perhaps better This is exactly how Kudos seem to be calculated: 1 kudos point for each unit of game distance (perhaps feet?) over which you are moving and have broken traction. This will be evidenced by smoking tires and skid marks, but not necessarily the skidding sound or controller vibration which, which begins even before the slide earns points. Multipliers... they are awarded for each additional trick you link together (1 per trick), that is to say that you begin a new trick before your temporary score becomes solid or is lost by hitting something. New tricks are measured by change in type, such as going from a slide to two wheels, catching air, over-taking another car (where applicable), and most importantly, any break in the scoring of the slide you are doing, be that a direction change, light breaking, acceleration... anything that causes you to momentarily regain traction, and then let it slide again will count as an additional trick. weaving back and forth is the best way (time permitting) to gain multipliers, so long as there is at least an infinitesimal break in the slide with the direction change. A slide which meanders left and right but with continuous lost traction is only one slide. If the kudos score grows without any hesitation, it's counting your effort as one trick. The long fades are great for covering great distances between gates quickly, but if you have the time, you should weave instead. In the F50, get up some 30-40 mph, break and turn hard right as soon as you start to slide switch left and accelerate. continue this back and forth. If the path is narrow you may need to lightly break each time you are pointed toward an obstacle in order to allow you to change direction before you collide. If breaking each time, you have to accelerate in the overall direction of travel to make up for the loss in speed. steer gas, steer break, steer gas, etc. | |
