I installed the game, installed patch 4.50, set compatibility to XP SP2, and ran the game as administrator. It runs great, but the graphics appear to be on their lowest setting even when I put them on the highest setting (I know these graphics are low because the game looked much better on my old system). I've tried 3dSetup.exe and I selected the device that wasn't Software Renderer (Direct 3D or something like that). I immediately got a message saying that I'd selected a card that was not compatible with the game and that it may cause problems. Sure enough, the game crashed as soon as I started it. Now the only option in 3dSetup is Software renderer and I'm back to the original problem. Any help?

BTW, I follwed some instructions for installation on Vista that I found here:

which told me to change my startup menu shortcut target to PatchNFS.exe instead of nfshs.exe.
