when i equip the flints and press the button that suppose to make sparks with the flints there's no spark that comes out

You can only use the flint I believe when you're trying to leave Portmith and you have to defeat the pirates in the cave. That cave should have little geysers with gas coming out. You should already have the flint equipped and walk up to the geyser and hit the action button and it should create an explosion.
