I just beat breath of fire 1 and walked away from the ending screen for some time and when I got back, it said "get a clue, that wasn't the real ending. What was that all about?

If you transform into Agni and fight the last boss, she becomes her true form (a hydra thing). Once this is beaten you see...well, a better ending.
