Did anyone ever finish this game? |
|
I've had this game since just after Christmas of 1992 and to this day I am yet to complete it... even with infinite air and health. I've come close, one summer many a year ago I played through quite a few of the levels I was previously stuck on.
So.. has anyone else managed to finish this game? -------------------

I never got the point of that game, but if you've had that game since the year i was born and still haven't beet it then it probably is a stupid idea trying.

I finished this game back when it first came out. I loved it, lush graphics (for the time), a totally original concept and a pleasure to play.
I can remember getting stuck at a few places. There was a bit where you had to go back in time and speak with a prehistoric entity that was made up of loads of orbs. It floated in the water and moved in the formation of a double helix. Eventually I figured out that you had to swim down the centre of it to move on. The second last level was by far the hardest though, I think it was called something like "welcome to the machine" and was set on the alien spaceship. You had to find a path through the level meanwhile the screen moved and if you got caught between the edge of the screen and any of the objects on screen then it was instant death and you had to go back to the start of the stage. After memorising the whole level I managed to pass it and get to the final battle. The end boss was a floating alien head, to beat it you had to ram it's eyes using your charge attack, once both eyes were destroyed you then had to break its jaw off before finally killing it. It was harder than it sounds because meanwhile there were smaller aliens attacking you and the big head kept sucking in the water you were swimming in and you had to swim away to stop from being eaten. It was a good challenge but well worth it. I can't really remember the ending but I think there was a sequence where you swam from the ship with your family. It ended with you all safe back home in the bay that the game started in. I bought the second game too - I think it was called "the tides of time", I completed that one too but I cant remember how that one finished.

Ecco the Dolphin was pretty hard, even with invincibility you could still get crushed by stones. I first played Ecco for the game gear, that version wasn't as hard. BTW the squeal to Ecco the Dolphin is Ecco 2: The Tides of Time.

No, even with cheats I don't think I can beat it. It's too hard and confusing.
