Yes, although I haven't actually done it without losing a single stock. But I bet I could if I really tried.

I've only played on Very Hard once in my whole life just for the Very Hard Clear bonus. But I never played Very Hard ever again.
Classic Mode: Very Easy: Almost all the time. Easy: 0 times. Normal: 18 times. Hard: 1 time. (For the Master Hand trophy) Very Hard: 1 time. (For the Very Hard Clear bonus) Adventure Mode: Very Easy: Almost all the time. Easy: 0 times. Normal: 1 time. (For Giga Bowser KO bonus) Hard: 1 time. (For Crazy Hand trophy) Very Hard: 0 times. I tried all modes on very hard mode and cleared them all except for All-star which is just too damn hard to clear.

Yeah, on the team stage, it's like your paired with a lvl 2 or something.

Been able to beat Classic and Adventure on Very Hard without using a Continue. All-Star on Very Hard with 1 Continue (I always get hit by a freaking exploding item just when I'm smashing >__>). Stopped trying All-Star because that happened just too often to me.=/
