How to get better...
1) Decide on a "main" aka your best character that you will be using around 80% of the time. After that take the time to learn how to wavedash with that character. Also get a feel for his ariels so you can l-cancel them correctly. 2) Watch some combo vids of that character on youtube to get a feel of what he is capable of. Also, you can look for tutorial vids that show you the best ways to play certain characters. 3) Watch match vids of that character to see the real-life applications of his abilties. 4) Mess around against low level computers. 5) Play with other people of your level, while attempting those new combos and tricks (don't worry about winning). 6) Find people better than you and play them.

I get better in 4 ways.
1. fighting my friends 2. Trying to beat the last 2 events (other than 51) 3. Fighting lvl 1's 4. Fighting lvl 9's -------------------

Well, training advice, training advice, let's see....
Well, this is what I do: 1. Train on computers of lv.5, or lv.6, or some mid-level. 2. I do Adventure mode or Classic mode on Very Easy alot, to practice with my 4 mains. ------------------- I don't give a hoot about Neoseeker. You don't like Ness, that means you don't like me. I'M DONE.

How would you get any better if you are fighting levl 5's and 6's and doing adventure/classic modes on very easy?
If you ask me all that will do is make you better at fithing people who are at or lower than level 5's. What I do to train is fight against my brother, but if you don't know anybody that good then practice Adventure/Classic Modes on normal without dying once or fight level 9's. Oh, and before I forget my brother is consistantly better than me so I don't win that often. And he's older that me so it's not like my little brother is beating me. ------------------- Stop reading this... why are you still reading this... wtf are you doing I said stop reading this!!!...You just wasted a bunch of time reading this... What that didn't get rid of you? Get outta my house!

I have had a hard time finding some1 who will play me.....Anyway these are my methods:
1) Go against a lvl 1 hard hitter(usually Gannondorf for me)and go to Hyrule Temple. Lead the lvl 1 to the bottom part of the stage and just let it hit u. This helps improve your tech. The computer will most of the time not attack very often and will wait a varying amount of time b4 hitting u. Teching won't be too predictable this way. 2)Every once and awhile watch combo vids and pro matches on the character u want to main. 3)Lvl 1 comps r there to help u practice combos. They help mostly if u r trying a new combo. Try comboing on a variety of characters that are high tier or give u trouble. To really see how well a combo works, play a human player. 4)Practice a specific technique(WD, SHFFLC. Not including tech. Go to #1 for that) for at least 10 minutes without stopping. Start off slowly for the first 2 minutes, then gradually increase the speed. In the situation u r practicing SHFFLC, just try to perform it perfectly one at a time at first. 5)Sometimes in certain situations, your main is at a substantial disadvantage. Spend a little time on a secondary character. I would recommend Falco if he is not your main because he is one of the easiest characters to do well with and doesn't require too much practice. This way, u r more prepared to fight a wider range of opponents. (EX: I use Falco to fight Sheik instead of my main, Marth) This message was edited by Marthpaladin on Dec 15 2006. i would agree with having a second character that your decent, but if a beginner was playing i would advise them not choose falco as he is a fast faller which can screw a player thats not very good. Instead i advise the use of a character such as mario who is an all rounder.

This is what i do to get better:
1. Play on hard mode in Classic 2. Play on normal mode in Adventure 3. Practice against level 1's (they don't stuff your combos) 4. Play Cruel Melee (my max is 34 kills, with Yoshi) 5. NEVER DIRECTLY SELECT A CHARACTER! only use Random, unless fighting a friend (sometimes i hand over the controler and let him chose my character) Reasons: 1. Hard mode in Classic is tough, so i don't get wimpy from fighting level 1's in vs mode. Also to fight Crazy Hand 2. Normal mode in Adventure, is, suprizingly enough, harder than hard mode classic. Specifically normal, not easy, is to fight Giga Bowser 3. As has already been said, Level 1's are great to practice combos and stuff on. 4. Playing Cruel Melee is mostly for bragging rights, proving once again Sonic and Tails are not in the game, and developing dodging skills (as you don't want to get hit 5. Do this to become skilled with all characters. Believe me, it's a good feeling to do the all characters challenge and win*. * All characters challenge is you use every character, starting from the top lefthand corner, against the character of your opponent's choice. This is how i consider them truely beaten
