Section 5:
Who to look out for.(Thieves)
Who to look out for, that is something Newbies must learn. First of all, there are your basic thieves. They really don’t exist much any more since any one with a cheat device can make any thing in the game. Spotting a thief is rather hard; they will pretend to be your friend and when you die take your money and weapon and run.
Second is Pker ( Player Killers) these people enjoy killing your character for 1. The satisfaction of being better than some one. 2. Like to show off. 3. Because they can. Spotting a Pker is easy. They will have no weapon or mag equipped. If you see this make sure your weapon is unequipped as fast as you can. You won’t be able to escape because good Pkers can get you even if you are in town and they are in an area.
Third cause of concern is the Cker (Character Killer). These players are especially dangerous; they have the power to corrupt your memory card so you cant save, and as a result, you lose your character. Don’t worry too much about them because to CK is not an easy task. The only way to tell a Cker is the items they give you. Don’t accept gifts from people you have not played with.
Thankfully, PSO ver 2 will be cheat device free or so Sega claims.
Next thing to look for is Fsod, Bsod, and Gsod players. Frozen, Black, and Grants screens of death. Any player in the game can do these. You don’t need to have any sort of cheat device to hit some one with these effects. All of these have the same effects on players your game will freeze up and the only way out is to press the power switch. Caution: YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PERSONAL INVENTORY NOT EQUIPPED BANK IS NOT AFFECTED. And on rare occasions you can loose your weapon as well. The only defense against such players is to not make any kind of scene in ship Oberon blocks 1-6, Puck 9 and maranda 7. Don’t attract attention to yourself especially if you yourself are a newbie. The best ships to play in are Ophelia, all ships but Io in Japan and any ship in Europe,
From the time I wrote this to now times have changed. Now instead of pkers there are NOLers. These players can actually take your VMU files and transfer them with that of the NPC called NOL. But that is not the only NPC they can do. I have heard of KIREEK and CECIL.
The warning signs of a NOLer.
To know if you are being NOLed, KIREEKed, or CECILed your screen will turn black like a BSOD. except you will be transported to the hunter guild. your LVL and NAME will change to that of the character the hacker is trying to turn you into. The only defence is to pull out your VMU or turn off your power. Hopefully you will do this befor the Auto-save feature turns on.CAUTION: this can be done in ver 2 as well as ver 1.
I have been
NOLed-This is bad not as bad as CKed
PKedIts ok if you dont have good weps
CKed-Very bad lose Everything and even the game
