I have windows xp now and pop3d won't run. When installing I am told the software hasn't passed the xp logo verification or something like that and if I continue installing the game it won't run. I can't seem to find any help on the internet about running it on xp.

Can anybody help me?? I really like this game! Thanks

you can run the game on xp( after all microsoft updates). install the game normally then dont install directex or win media codecs or quick time then you can download the pop3dpatch1.exe and pop3dnocd.zip from the internet by searching then install the patch( run it from the same dir where pop3d is installed) and extract the pop3dnocd.zip into the pop3d directory and run the pop3dnocd.exe and u can play with out cd also.

In a other post someone says at www.gamecopyworld.com, but i looked there and i can't find it also. Also on google you can't find it. Is it a real patch for the problem?

Any help on the problem will be great.

Well, i have also windows xp and my pop3d works normal on it. The problem i had was in de libarry where the game stopped.
i downloaded the:
(Prince of Persia 3D Update 1 [US] No-CD
Apply the official Prince of Persia 3D Update into the game directory, then i extracted the POP3DNOCD.EXE Patch to the game directory and i'm playing again.

Or change your compatibility of the setup into windows '98

My problem with XP is that the program just won't start. I only get a prince of persia logo and then the program closes again.
By the way, Installation went without problems, because i disabled the XP-logo check in my configurationmanager

I will try to install again in de 98-compatible mode, and install the nocd-patch.

SP1 for XP professional won't install either. anymore tips anyone?

I understand all your problem because I also tried to
install Prince of Persia 3D on several XP machines.
On some machines I got it to work, on other machines
it just won't work, regardless what you do.
What we need is a XP-Patch for Prince of Persia. But such a patch DOES NOT EXIST!
That's the fatal summary.

hmm here is the xp problem....

my problem was that i get the bootup screen and then it dissappear again (as it should be) but then it was over.. to solve this you only have to go to the pop3d.exe file in your pop3d directory and select it with your right mouse button choose properties.. from here you can set the compatible OFF! i don't know if it works on every pc but mine did

I have the same problem with the logo but...
I tried all compatibility settings and here are the results:

Windows 2000: Same as windows XP with no compatibility on (just the logo).

Windows 98/95: Both crash even before the logo just after the "Prince of Persia 3d" screen (still in windows).

Tried to play with patch and without. Without patch I can't even get the logo to show. With patch it crashes after the logo back to desktop.

Somehow I think I had it working before on a previous win XP setup but I could be wrong and it was Win 98.

If somebody has any sugestion please reply!

To my surprise I finally managed to get the game running on windows XP. After reading all the advice I decided to give it one last try. I installed the XP service pack, downloaded all the essential updates and other game related problem solvers form the winddows update website. Then I also installed the latest driver for my Geforce Nvidia card. And finally I installed the patch that is available on the Web. I unchecked the compatibility modus as adviced before and did not run the compatibilityprogram offered in windows XP.
Then the game started without a problem and I managed to get out of the dungeon. Don't know if there will be any problems later on in the game but this is a promising start. Hope this will be of some use to someone who having problems!!!

I managed to run the Prince on my Windows XP without any windows update, even without SP1 (not that I didn't try to download them, they just woudn'). I downloaded for www.megagames.com two game fixes: Prince of Persia 1.1 (cracked.exe no cd) and Prince of Persia DUTCH. I applied the 1.01 patch from the first one and put the pop3d.exe from the second in the Prince of Persia directory. And guess what? The game starts with no problems, no compatibilty setting and wizards needed, no crashes at the library !!! I love this game and I had really hard time making it run on Windows XP but finally I did and I think this will help anyone who wants to play the Prince on WinXP. Enjoy!
