I was thinking that maybe rather than having the "most popular topics" show up in the top of the forum, we could have the recent in-house reviews make an appearance there(in named link form) instead.

Thats a pretty cool idea! I would love to see the latest reviews posted in the forums. I tend to miss them on the home page since my.neoforum is my home page I have no reason to to go the main neoseeker home, so seeing the latest ones at the top of the forum would be great! -------------------

I was thinking, we have Game Grep for posting news articles about video games, why not have something similar for hardware news? Or we could find a way to integrate a category for computer hardware news into game grep. I think it would be cool if users could also post some of the latest computer hardware news too. -------------------

Being a complete noob to game grep myself, I totally overlooked this, but having the news somehow integrated into Neo would be pretty cool too.

I think rather than the hardware portal, the hardware community can focus on doing informative threads. That could work just as good tbh and can be done right now. Update on the 2 URL Limit Issue in the Hardware ForumsI've finally updated the hardware section of the site so that the 2 URL limit in posts to the hardware forums by guests and new members is no longer in effect. Hopefully this helps out.------------------- The further back you can look, the farther ahead you can see. <paraphrased> - W. Churchill

re: Hardware Forums Requests, Feedback, and Suggestions |
quote AnonymousI've been thinking more about this, and came up with this idea: I was thinking that at the top of the forum, possibly where the "top discussion groups" is right now or even on the right side of the forum like in the gaming platforms (example) would be a list of the latest news articles that appear on the front page. The list would auto-update as new articles are posted, and the older ones will be removed from the list. Something similar could also be done to the other forums (video cards, motherboards, ect) so that they list the newest reviews in the forum. Alternately, at the end of the article or review, instead of having a comments section, a new thread could be auto-created with a short preview and a link to the article in it. This would also be where users would comment on the articles. This could bring more traffic to the forums, and let more people see the latest articles on neoseeker. I know I check these forums way more often then I check the front page for the latest news articles. It would also better integrate the forums with the in-house reviews and articles. As of now, I feel like theres a bit of a distance between them. What does everyone think of this? Would you rather have the latest articles/news at the top of the forum, or in a side column like the console forums are? -------------------

Personally I'd like to see one with a side column, such as the one in the General PC Games Forum. ------------------- ![]()

I may suggest the latest news/reviews idea to Red in a few days and see what he says. It would be nice to get a few more comments from the other members first though. -------------------

As for the wiki-idea, a hardware-wiki would be a massive amount of work. I assume we'll start out at contemporary hardware and update once new stuff gets release. It would seem best to me if information would be taken from Neo's benchmarks and technical information from both Neo's reviews and, if lacking, other sites. ------------------- ![]() Props to my Americano Pimpa~ Tweaker, for being Neo's very own sexy d00d
