First post!
Now its time to feed and nurture the thread. We should be potty training it in a few pages, then it will graduate, then eventually die of old age and a new one created. They seem to grow up so fast.. ok, back on topic.. Will your sister even use the full power of the 8800? Or do you do what I do sometimes, and when someone in my family needs a new computer, give them some of my old parts? ------------------- quote TurMoiL911

Well my technically my sister wont need all that power but my nephew will certainly benefit for using it for his games. He sees nothing wrong while gaming on my socket a computer that has a quadro 2 mx gpu in it. But he told me that he'd like to play call of duty 4 and some of the new titles so he'll definitely need something with power. If it's not really necessary I was just going to slap a 7600GT in it and buy a new gpu cooler for my card... that was the main reason I was going to swap it with the 3870.
But that reminds me, what dx10 card is on par with the 7600GT? It could be a bit more powerful doesn't matter. It's just I cant really come to any conclusions after reading benchmarks and it's hard to find one that pits the 7600 against one of the next gen cards in terms of performance.

Well basically on par with the 7600GT would be a 2600XT or a HD 3650 w/ DDR3
I see your coming potentialy back to the bright side of life with ATi. PS: AMD is supposedly slashing their prices on all AMD X2 and Phenoms (also Semprons) in early April. Might see sub-$200 quads although they will have the TLB Errata.

To get this:
![]() I used this:
On imageshack, I think you can just use the thumbnail for forums 1, and just change out the URL part to [img link]. ------------------- quote TurMoiL911

Following your PSU link and than the other link to calculator from there:
That calculator is really quite accurate. It got my Wattage @ full load within 10% (it said 371W PSU) My system uses about 341-350watts at full load. So I've concluded that its good at telling you how much power you will use rather than what you should buy. I'd say add 100-150W (minimum) to whatever it suggests so your not maxing out the PSU at all times Interesting calc though.
