problem

well it started about 2 days ago i tried to install a hard drive cooler on my hard drive *duh* then i couldn't fit it back in my hard drive holder thing i don't really know what to call it in the antec 900 so i had to take it off then plugged back in all cables and it just wouldn't come on one blue flash from LED lights for a second then off well i've had it happen at work before anyway all you have to do is unplug the 24 pin power and plug back in so yeah working fine again but i realised my cd rom wasn't working a day later so i open my computer up change round sata and power cables and then i boot and now i just think none of my sata cords are working every time i start the computer "disc boot failure please insert system disc and press eneter but i can't cause i think it might be the sata cables cause the power is still on them i can open and close it but yeah so anyway i went back to my old computer changed the hard drive over to the case plugged in the reason was cause i had a IDE hard drive in my old computer so won't need any SATA except for hard drive but i guess still none of them are working full sata cables problem

but i noticed something in bios isn't it suppose to say like: Sata channel master 0 , 1 , 2 etc well mine just says IDE channel master 0 , 1 , 2 etc

it always says i have a floppy drive installed which i don't

re: problem

I've had something like this happen before where all I had to do to fix it was rearrange the SATA channels in the BIOS.

Also, it would be much easier to read if you used a period or comma here and there.

sorry i'll try, how do you rearrange the SATA channels in bios?.

I was going to format but it's kinda not an option now. Because i did manage to get the cd-rom drive in my computer working computer working. i pressed install now going fine then but then i got to where you put the cd key in and put it in then tells me to start the windows put the cd in and start it from the window when i can't even get into the window

Well yeah if i can just do that thing you say it be much better. There something strange to every time i start up my computer it says like:

port 00: "CD-ROM" (the model number)
port 01: none
port 02: none
port 03: (says model number of hard drive)

So yeah i have no clue what that means. The SATA ports my CD-R and hard drive is connected to or something?

But also I'm not at home either so i won't be able to try things for awhile. when i get home i probley won't be able to post back unless i get this working

re: problem

It varies from BIOS to BIOS, but all I have to do is highlight the channel that I wish to change and press either the "up" or "down" arrow on my keyboard or the + or - key on the key pad. It will cycle through all of your devices one at a time until you select which one you want to be on that channel.

EDIT: ok it's all better. I just reinstalled vista from vista and activated so yeah all good now
