re: Folding @ Home II

only with a program like fahmon.the steps are different according to the unit number.there are a few units for the unicore that only take a few minutes and some that can take days.the points for each have been evened out as to how long each unit takes.the shorter the time the less points.

Can you join this on your PS3? Because it's a built in feature. I haven't run it yet, though.

This is great to see...now we are getting some PS3 people involved! I wonder, if Xbox360 made a FAH client how much longer/shorter would it take to finish a WU?

not really when you think about it.the ps3 takes 6hrs to run 1 unit for about 255 points.and running 24/7 will get you about 900 points per day,and you cannot do anything else while running the program.

the gpu program takes less time to run the units for more points.folding 24/7 you can get 5000 points or so just off the gpu. While still being able to surf the net and play smaller games.

the smp core for the cpu gets between 1700-1920 points per unit and completes them in about 24hrs on a dual core and 12-16hrs on a quad.

I will stick to the computer versions and use my ps3 for movies and games.just not worth it to me.

re: Folding @ Home II

How do I make this thing run 100% of my CPU? It's only running about 100% of one of my four cores.

And will this work when the computer is locked or in sleep mode?

re: Folding @ Home II

i think when you configure F@H you need to go to the advanced tab and check the 'do not lock cores to specific cpu' box. not entirely sure though.

re: Folding @ Home II

I have a quick question - and I've never tried folding@home so forgive me if I sound ignorant; Does internet speed matter at all for this or no?

Thanks.
