re: Folding @ Home II

Every bit helps, but what video card do you have?

I mean, even on my old as the hill (built it when I joined the site) K8V-SE Deluxe/3400+ system has been through a lot of cards, and is now on an HD3850. If you stick a decent card in there, you'd be surprised how fast they fold.

The PSU has arrived, and I'll get a few folds in today after I install it. My motherboard hasn't arrived for my HD3850 system, so that will still probably be a week.

my video card is an FX5200 (i think it was FX. its the tornado series from nvidia). however, there is a slight possibility that i might get a 5600 from a computer that is a lost cause. either way, theyre still not new enough to fold on.

as for the video card, i dont have any intentions of buying a new one because my current computer is not worth upgrading. im basically saving up for an i7 system, or if i wait long enough, ill get Sandy Bridge.

I am actually surprised with my folding results. Going from a 9800GX2 to a GTX285, I am averaging 2000 more points a day.

I sure you are aware but the P55's are coming out. The only difference is that they only support the i5's. But they will be the first boards to support SATA 3 (6Gb/s) if they can get the driver situation fixed.

re: Folding @ Home II

I can't get mine to work, either. I have my new 650W Corsair in there... and now F@H keeps giving me errors. Can't remember the exact error.. but it won't even open or stay running. Is this your problem, too?

re: Folding @ Home II

Says I'm missing 'nvcuda.dll'

Thanks for any help!

It says this on the version I have had on there forever. I re-downloaded it (same version), deleted the old one, installed the new one (well, same version), and still get the same problem. I've installed it 2 times, now.

EDIT: Think I found the problem. I have to have PhysX, even on my ATI card, to run this program. I'm downloading it now and will see if this fixes it.

EDIT2: If this does fix it, I'll let ya know. But I won't leave it running overnight for this first time. I want to make sure the card's temperatures stay good before I run off and sleep all night on its first time folding.

EDIT 3 :-( : Didn't work. If you find anything, lemme know, thanks man.

Well, now I'm downloading the Cuda drivers. Gonna give this a shot. It's 100MB.

We'll see....

re: Folding @ Home II

Cuda drivers didn't work.

Moved amdcalrt.dll and another file into the correct folder and I'm thinking it's working now!

It is F@H's fault, and they openly admit it. They'd have more users if they'd get it right to begin with. LOTS of people are complaining about this, and I doubt half of them know how to fix it like us gurus.

re: Folding @ Home II

So one question before I possibly download this.

So when I download it, it folds, and it helps cure diseases?

Yes, they take human proteins and see all the possible things they do, and help to prevent them from causing cancer.

I do it because it's a good cause, and I like keeping our team moving up in the ranks.

It's a helpful cause, and I hope it ends up working out well.

BTW guys, I'm back in on one system so far. The HD4870. The AGP HD3850 will be folding before the end of the month when my board gets here.
