a couple of reasons. reason 1 - because people want their systems as fast as possible, and reason 2 - why not?

So who wants to sell their first born for this gaming laptop? maybe an arm or a leg (or both arms and both leg)?

Holy shit.
And I thought my laptop had a lot of stuff in it... I bet that thing will get insainly hot. My laptop has two 7200rpm hard drives, a 8600m and a 2.2ghz C2D and it gets pretty warm. I would think it would need at least 2 cooling fans in it just to keep it from burning up. It looks like you can even configure a RAID 0 or RAID 1 as well. ------------------- quote TurMoiL911

Reading the reviews shows 4 cooling fans and lots of ventilation.

I'm just curios as to who would sell their first born (maybe even 2nd and 3rd) for that laptop. Too bad I don't have money just waiting to burn a hole in my pocket, cause I would like to pick up the laptop and have it burn my lap...

re: General discussion IV |

I'm looking for some more RAM for my sisters computer. Its been pretty slow for a while, so I figure I can upgrade the 1gb of ram to 2gb for about $30. For some reason it doesnt like the 3 sticks of 512mb of ram I have, so I was just going to get 2x 1gb. Now this is what confuses me. I can get a 2x 1gb set of DDR2 for about $20-$40, with just 3 over the $40 rang. I figure, regular old DDR, since its an older technology, would be cheaper. Nope. The cheapest DDR 2x 1gb kit I can find is $66. Even just a 2x 512mb kit starts out at $38. Why is DDR suddenly so much higher than DDR2? I cant figure that out at all. Also, does anyone know of a decent wireless print server thats under $70? All that I can find on Newegg costs over $70. ------------------- quote TurMoiL911

The reason older technology is more expensive over time is that they are becoming obsolete. It's harder to find older technology than newer technology. So the ones who carry them will know that demand is higher than the current available supply.

Depending on what he has as a printer, Ue might be needing a device that has a usb port or LPT port on 1 end that acts like a wireless device.
Slayer, what exactly do you need as a device for your wireless printing? ------------------- No gaming right now... my T42 video is toast (almost)... I'm getting zig zaggy lines all over the place. Neo HTML Markup help

quote Nu Wa Rocksi would assume that phasing out manufacturing methods would have a part to play as well. if RAM and GPU manufacturing is anything like mobo maufacturing, then it would seem about right. quote Nu Wa Rockswell, i dont like kids, so id say that id be willing to make it a living to trade children for the most expensive computer parts...then again, i dont think there would be many women whod be willing to do such a thing, knowing what the results would be...damn -------------------

re: General discussion IV |
quote Nu Wa RocksDamn, I need a neighbor like you. Only one I can see paying for that. This nice old guy (Not saying your old lol) pays kids like $10 and giant candy bar to rake his yard. Not "$10 one time payment" but like, every day (for like 2 hours) he gives you $10. I did that one year but I think some kids started doing that. Not to mention it's summer and not fall. And we have waaay too many car washes. Baby sitting maybe... plenty of kids, but most parents are like "Hey watch my kids while I go get some beer". I have redneck neighbors. Edit: About that laptop, that thing would be HOT. I have like, a cheap $400 Toshiba with like a 1.6GHz 1 core and it runs pretty hot. :\ ------------------- ![]() Jeff Gordon FTW.

This general discussion only lasted 4 months. I remember how the first one we had lasted about a year and a half before it reached 30 pages.
Anyway, a new thread can be found here
