you can link sites, as long as theyre relevant. it didnt warrant for a new thread though. that is what the general discussion thread is for

haha...
hiigaran, have you seen that website? just google Havenworks and press the I'm feeling lucky button. EDIT: OK then, this is the site. and hey hiigaran, which is the best one of them all round (protection and mem usage) i'm thinking to get one of these as I am suffering from some startup problems. First of all, my problem is this: BEFORE: On the Xp Welcome screen, after I entered my password, it took 3 seconds to a usable desktop. AFTER: Now it takes 20 seconds to get one. So I'm thinking to get Avast! or AntiVir. Which one is better in protection and mem usage? EDIT: I know I'm double posting, n I apologise to the mods for that. 1 - yes ive seen the site
2 - the slow startup speed can be a number of things. rather than list them all, just click the link in my sig and do what you can. 3 - as for avast or antivir i havent properly used them. ive just looked at unbiased internet comparisions, but from what i remember with the older versions, AntiVir didnt seem as bad as Avast. ------------------- | |

they might just be low risk threats which may or may not be actual viruses anyway.

cool, lets end this. But I'd like to say that there was no excuse in my words.
And hey, Spybot doesn't have real time protection or something? -------------------

re: General discussion IV |

yeah, its called TeaTimer. to enabled it, you need to switch Spybot to advanced mode in the mode menu, then go to tools on the sidebar, then resident, then select the second checkbox. TeaTimer is like UAC, but it wont ask if you want to cancel or allow every little thing. instead, it will just monitor what really matters. the registry, your startup list, your homepage settings (for hijackers), ActiveX entries, BHO entries, and a few more which i think i might have forgotten...basically all the weak spots. its is programmed in a way to let your antivirus take care of other real time protections such as detecting malicious programs when you open a file.
