Is this a decent external hard drive?

I just need it to back up some movies/photos/music. My birthdays on Saturday so my mom is paying for it.

And at that hard drive thing.

yeah its decent, but personally id choose something from a more well known company. however, its just an external drive and youre not going to have it on all day so its fine.

no but whats up with that movie? looking at the cover, it looks weird.

The watchmen? It's a movie that competes with the Marvel comic movies. It does a way better job at the superhero thing too. It's got a more mature story and it's 3 hours long but super fun to watch! You should check it out.

sure thing. there is a website (link) which streams movies for free. slayer, you can remove the link if its against the rules, but if the site has been up for this long, then theres probably a legal way or something.

Never had a problem with Buy.com but now they sent me an email saying its on backorder. Wonderful, guess it'll be a late birthday gift... and $5 of shipping down the drain.

Maybe he's trying to call to get an idea on when the device might be available. That really isn't a problem call, just informational.

Have they charged your credit card yet? If not, I would suggest to cancel and order a different item.

Yeah I just wanted to know when it'd be in. Couldn't find a number so I canceled it. Bought a 750gb one from Amazon. Ends up being about the same but 250gb less.

All well, I didn't know much about that brand anyway. Now I'll have a Western Digital one. Hopefully it comes in on Friday so I'll have it for my birthday on Saturday.

it ought to be more reliable and most likely faster than the other brand. hard drives and PSU's should always be from realiable companies

Posting this here since the *nix forum is dead..

I installed Ubuntu today and I have to say I like it. However, I am having some problems.

1. Neo looks weird. Take a look here. There's something amiss. When I first started Firefox it did give me a warning about installing additional plugins, I stupidly ignored it.

2. Youtube doesn't work. A popup came up and let me install a plugin to make it work, but only the sound plays. No picture.

Oh and before I leave, how to I add my hardrive status and such to the desktop, like Windows widgets? Is it complicated?

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04.

Just because the *nix forum doesnt get a new reply every day, doesnt mean no one has it on their favorite forum list and is watching it...

im sure linkmaster would be watching it like a hawk. he loves the *nix's. you could probably pm him as well.
