Building My First Gaming Rig |

Hi I'm new to the world of building gaming computers. I was just wondering if for my budget of $750, these were the best components I could get for my money. Also I was wondering if all of these were compatible? If anything is wrong please give me a recommendation.

re: Building My First Gaming Rig |

Case: There are better cases for cooling but if you like the look of that one it's fine for most setups. Do not buy cases with power supplies in them for gaming rigs as they are usually very unreliable.
Motherboard: A decent mobo in its own right but it is not the same socket type as the E8400 cpu. The motherboard does not support DDR2 either. Video Card: If this is in USD you're paying quite a bit more than you should for a card with that level of power. You could easily get a HD 4870 for a similar price or a hd 4890 for a little bit more. For your budget I would go with this: Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156078 DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118030 HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136319 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161298 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727 Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157176 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227495 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817702010 Total: $755.92 Mail in rebates (Not included in total): $30 I was guessing that the cost of windows 7 would be added on top of the $750 and not in the $750 since you went up to $700 with your own build. Explanation of parts: Case: Looks decent and is good enough for cooling for this system. I'm guessing you liked the look of it since you wanted it in the first place. DVD: It's a dvd drive no real cons or pro's. HDD: Pretty much the same reason as the case, it's your personal preference. GPU: One of ATI's fastest single gpu's that is overclocked 115mhz from the stock clock by factory default. It will give much more performance than the gts 250 you linked. CPU: AMD's best quad core cpu at 3.4ghz with the newly revised stepping that allows it's TDP (Thermal design power) to be lowered to 125w instead of the original 140w. Uses a little less energy and is able to overclock higher. Mobo: Supports the cpu and 1600mhz DDR3 RAM and has plenty of extra pci and pci-ex1 slots. RAM: 4gb dual channel ddr3 at 1600mhz. Not the fastest 1600mhz ram but it needed to fit into your budget, it will be noticably faster than 800mhz ram to say the least. PSU: A 4890 needs at least a 550w psu and this one is from a reliable brand, BFG Tech. Any questions or comments let me know. This is a great build.
It will be able to max out WOW now problem You will be able to run crysis smoothly, not sure about the settings though. If you crossfired in the future you would be able to run it on high. -------------------

re: Building My First Gaming Rig |

that mobo doesnt support crossfire so no luck on that front unless you get a different one.
You'll get about the same performance as the Toxic 4890 in this review: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/HD_4890_Toxic_Vapor-X/9.html I believe that is max settings. Only aa,af, and resolution changes. I imagine lowered settings at higher resolutions will work decently but dont quote me haha, not sure as i dont have crysis. ------------------- Classic Gamer's Society Current Game - Lufia II Rise of the Sinistrals

this is probably the fourth time ive suggested this build:
quote another threadits a little over your budget, but you can change the case for something cheaper and youll have the crossfired rig within your grasp. nova, i didnt bother looking through yours, so if there are any similarities, dont beat me up for it -------------------
