i play through the stage, kill some generals and get some goodies, and then lu bu pops up and thrashes my ass, am i just supposed to run and kill the main bad guy and forget about him for now?

he is not the main bad guy. if u look to the bottom left of your screen and will see a bunch of red and a blinking white dot. that is the guy u have to kill. also to kill lu bu your characters must be really strong.

HAHA, I swear they put him in there just to humble everyone. Yeah, you should pretty much run if you see him. However, if you DO beat him than look out for the "supply team" that appears in the center of the map, and makes it's way to the northern re-supply point. Defeat that "supply Captain" and get the item. Now you can start every level with a really strong horse.
I killed him with arrows on DW2, and you can do the same here. The trick is to run when he advances on you, and watch you mini-map to see when he stops pursuit. Also make sure there are lots of good-guys to server as cannon fodder and distract him. First things first, take out ALL enemy troops nearby, including his bodyguards.

Just ignore him in Musou mode .It's usually is easy cause he'll attack some other general .If you do fight him just try and get many other solders fighting with you .They'll distract him .While he's guarding their attacks you can hit him from behind .I recomend saveing Musou only for when he is very weak or when he is about to hit you with combos .Wait till you have better items and higher stats to fight him .

to beat lubu you must have your character's 2nd weapon and simply do this:

push square,square,square,square,and TRIANGLE over and over again until hes dead

during the combo he cant attack you since he is bouncing around

I never thought of that. Actually I just stick with him and keep whacking. Depending on what weapon I have I just do on hit less than the max nromal combo so he won't fly away. It will take a while but I always beat him. Though it doesn't help that I'm on easy.

try my stratagy on hard mode against him but dont let him hit you with his mosou or you are more than half dead

if u tried fighting him and he put u on red, run away, if he's running after u, head for a spot where there's some soldiers from ur team, he'll be busy with them. if not, stay at a good distance and follow him until he starts battle with other soldiers. since ur in red ur mussou goes up automatically. so from a good distance, u can get charged and mussou bow/arrow attacks. with that alone u can hurt him and his soldiers. his soldiers are pretty strong too so don't underestimate them. as soon as he has barely any life and no soldiers, run in and do ur mussou attack, run out and keep running till it goes up, then go back and do it again. might take long but it's safe and works...

i tried that before...just before i do my mosou he hits me with a special and more of his guys just come a beat me up

I beat Lu Bu one on one!! First time playing on normal and he is tough! My hits don't even knock him back but I still beat him. I had to run away a few times but I did beat him. he had killed every force I had except for me and Yuan Shao (I was Lui Bei). I only had Zhang Fei and 4 of his body guards. He went to the north after killing Cao Cao, Sun Jian, and Gongsun Zan. I headed south and took out his gate (I guess he noticed cuz he started heading back). I killed all of his other troops. Then Zhang Fei came and started fighting him. He sacrificed his life so I could kill all of Lu Bu's bodyguards. Then it was me and him. I kept whacking him on a horse till he knocked me off. Then I would hit him a couple times and block for his attack. he did get one in but before he gave the deathblow I had musou and used it. Now we were both almost dead. I kept blocking and not hitting him, waiting for my musou to charge. After another Musou attack on him I finally killed him (I think it was only on musou mabye two)! If you have the buckler equipped you can block him and do this with no problem but I didn't have it and I still beat him. I rock!!!!

Hmmmm..... why does it sound like you just made all that up, especially since you wrote earlier that you just keep whacking at him, and didnt mention this story then... hmmm... sounds like your trying to write your own off-shoot of the books here...

It's easy enough to beat Lu bu with X. Dun and only his first weapon......I've done it a couple times......Just open a can of whoop-a$$ on him with a square square square triangle then run away a yard or two and then slam him with a running square ataack and then just keep opening cans of whoop-a$$ and etc. Good Luck!

even with the worst guy, with no strength, and the first weapon can beat him. i did it and didn't get touched. how? it is my famous general killing technique. all you have to do is charge lu bu or anyone else and instead of hitting him head on run around him so you ar facing his back (it has to be done really fast or he will swing). and do your triangle blah blah blah stuff and he will go flying. try to be in a position where he gets up and you are behind him do the trangle blah blah blah again. if you are not behind him when he gets up jump and run away go back and run around him again. ect.. ect.. ect.. its all to easy kill any general with my technique
ps: to get more points at the end of the board kill him with your musou its all to easy:):P:)

Has it ever occured to you that I have played the game since the last reply. On easy I just stay on him and don't let off till he's dead. On normal (my first time playing on normal) he's a lot stronger so you can't do that or he will counter. But if you don't believe me that's you perogrotive.

I used Cao Cao's instant death move on him on normal and it seemed to drain alot of his life .More than the Musou attack .
