I know I shouldn't really seek medical advice on a forum... but I was just kind of curious about my eye.

In the mirror today, I noticed a small brown dot on the white of my eye. I remembered that my boyfriend accidentally poked me there, so maybe it's a bruise...

Is that possible?

In a manner of speaking yes. You can break blood vessels in your eye, which in a sense could be considered bruising.

Pop a vein?

I assumed as much.

I also read online it could be caused by cancer. I'm hoping that's not the case.

If it's not cleared up in a few weeks I may have to make a Dr. Appointment. :/

Which is why in my post I indicated in a manner of speaking it is a bruise, as a bruise is simply nothing more then bleeding under the surface.

Your eye is fine I suspect, and unless you are having any pain, it should clear up in a few days.

Even the broken vessels I obtained after childbirth went away in about 3 days, until it did, my eyes looked horrible.

Hopefully you're right.

A ruptured blood vessel and accumulation of leaked blood is the most likely cause.

It should clear up within one week. If not, seek medical help.

If the condition persists, visit more than one doctor. A friend of mine suffered an eye infection and was misdiagnosed.

It could even just be a large floater, a small piece of dead tissue that has dislodged and is floating in the fluid surrounding the eyeball. If that's the case, then there's no harm done at all.

I'm more curious as to what exactly poked you in the eye...not who
