One-Worded Names

Seriously, what's up with the amount of these? I can barely tell one person from the other. And people still want them.

Be more original, people.

Discuss... do you think they're cliched?

re: One-Worded Names

Well, I like my choice. 'Shanoa' strikes me as a female name, and I think it's a good choice.

One worded names are easy to remember, and easy to pronounce. So I can see why people want them.

re: One-Worded Names

My name's two words joined together.

Just a little note here, I'm not talking about names like Tom's, where it's their RL name. I'm talking about ones where they plucked some random 'cool' words, like these:

One-Worded Names

Had it occurred to you that people might choose those names because they actually hold a personal meaning for them?

I'll use myself as an example. I use the name Vector because it directly relates to one of my greatest passions which is Graphic Art.

re: One-Worded Names

I've always felt that one-word names were superior, but in recent times I decided that if I somehow got a free name change I'd make it a two word one. Although the name I thought of isn't anything too special either, it's just an adjective then a noun. =\

I don't know really. Twould be a pretty cool if there was a member called 'Oven' but I don't want to see everybody with similar names.

I think that one worded names stand out more. My username doesn't actually stand out.

re: One-Worded Names

One word just looks cooler. Plus it is often harder to come by. Anyone can combine two words and generally get a decent name, but in a lot of places especially older boards like Neo it can be darn near impossible to get single words. If I go on any kind of Star Trek board or anything remotely related to it I almost never get this name. So I grab it whenever I can.

Yes, Blode. Oh, wait, not anymore.

Personally, I prefer one word names. I just think they look cleaner and whatnot. And not to mention that the name Amethyst does mean a lot to me, just as Q said Vector means something to him.
