Wait so what about the other ones produced by Ziff Davis? They are not going to shut down are they? I think they are Official XBox Magazine or was it XBN? Official Playstation Magazine or PSM?

EGM was poorly constructed IMO and I get GameInformer anyways.

No more EGM? Game Informer's good and all, but EGM was what you opened to go "oh my god, yes!"

quote Sonic WaveOPM shut down in January 2007, Xbox Nation(XBN) shut down in 2004, and Games for Windows(previously known as Computer Gaming World) shut down in April 2008. All of Ziff Davis' magazines are gone now. EGM was their last one. Ziff Davis simply didn't want to deal with print magazines anymore.

Reasons why I liked Gameinformer more than EGM:
1) More previews Different magazines get different covers but Gameinformer always gave the most and best previews for games. Call me silly, if you will, but I'd rather see a list of previews for new games rather than some list of silly article written by Shawn. 2) Better Previews More detailed and gave info you wanted to hear. Unlike the first one, this is just an opinion so it can vary 3) Better Reviews Once again, an opinion. 4) More news They had more rumors and news headlines than EGM ever had -------------------

GI also has more advertisements then EGM did. You can't turn a page in GI without getting bombarded with advertisements. ------------------- ![]()

I've only read Gameinformer to be honest.

Electronic Gaming Monthly was honestly one of the best magazine's ever, I got them for around 3 years, 9-12, now I'm sad.

quote JeshYeah same here. I was with GameInformer for some time, and obviously they have the better previews...that's GI's main focus. They preview some games to keep a lookout for, and most of them won't come out for some time. I remember a few they did like Infamous last year. Not that it's a bad thing, I like the details they throw in and games too look ahead for in the future...but EGM had the present down-packed for me. -------------------

EGM was the first gaming magazine I actually read regularly. A huge loss, tbh, but the magazine had been lacking in recent years, compared to others, especially GameInformer.
And as for advertising...EGM was pretty bad at this. I could go pull out my December '98 issue, which featured at least 40 pages dedicated to Electronics Boutique's Christmas Catalog ------------------- ![]() † | IRP | Wrestling | SvR 2010 | Me | R.I.P. Umaga

This is a result from the sort-of, more-or-less demise of 1up.com.
Both 1up.com and EGM sucked. ------------------- Barmy's Blog: A+B+Start.

Wow, I had no idea... I read EGM all the time. Gameinformer is great to, but I just buy whichever seems to have more reviews and info relevant to my interests.
That's a damn shame, they'll be missed. I wonder what'll happen to all the people who have subscriptions? A refund, perhaps? ------------------- ![]()

Man, this is kinda saddening, EGM was the first mag I read, and the first I subscribed to. I still have my FIRST issue, was about weather or not to buy the Dreamcast (those were the days).
