Also, on the main topic, I hate hearing about people being all I get this *insert expensive item* and *insert equeally expensive item*, and their all like acting like they care aaskig you what you got and act entuhiastic when you really are about teh two pair of skinny jeans, two belts, two shirts, and a jacket. You're happy as *bleep* and they act like, wow i feel bad for them.

My parents make well over $10000 each and yet they never buy me anything, unless it is Christmas or my birthday. I have to make my own money, which isn't alot. I don't even work part time, and my allowance is 20$ a week. I was saving up for like 3 months to buy a Wii.

I have to use a solar powered computer because my family can't afford electricity which is why i'm never online in the day time because it's charging off the sun, and i don't need you rubbing it in with your 2000 presents for no reason, gosh.

Not a lot of people are going to reply to this because they're ashamed that you've pretty much just describe almost all of humanity, no matter what people to say.

I'll admit that I am materialistic, people in today's society are pushed that way with the ways people act and think. Am I proud of it? No, of course not. I don't want to be dependent on my iPod or Cell Phone, but since they're there I feel that I might as well use them.

Obviously I feel horrible that I have things and you can't afford electricity, but there isn't a lot that I can do currently. I'm thirteen, I'm not old enough to even get a job.

Materialism will lead into many different debates and arguments, and why it is a bad or good (some people may think some good things have come from it) state.

And this thread will bring stereotypes like "NO, only Americans!" But really, it isn't just Americans, it's everyone in a developed and industrialized country.
