Powerpoint presentation tips |
|
Hey. I have to give a PowerPoint presentation to about 50 students and a couple of lecturers at college soon. I’ve started working on it. I have all the facts down, but I want to make it look appealing without making it look like something a 10 year old has done. I designed this little banner I might put at the top left of each slide, if it looks tacky please say.
![]() Cheers, also any tips on delivering speeches? I have done this before, but it was to a class of 25, all of whom I know so I wasn't on edge. (note - image is resized when placed in powerpoint)

K, because you have a power point, don't just read off the damn thing, try to streamline it a bit. Just don't get off topic, this is bad.

Well for starters, that banner isn't too appealing. When resized, you won't be able to read the text very well, which is apparently the important part of the piece. Also, if you want something appealing, look for templates on their website, that can give your powerpoint some sort of appeal to it. Or if you're like me and have the time, make a template of your own. I did mine for my astronomy powerpoint, and everyone was impressed. I wasn't able to deliver the powerpoint very well though because my teacher forced me to rush it. -------------------

I assume the spelling mistakes in the banner are intentional? And that it's a picture of a mouse in a cage.

Well, if you're using images/text that stays constant throughout the presentation, ensure that they don't shift position at all between slides. It can be something of a distraction for viewers.

Thanks for the advice ZL, I might have a go at designing my own template, I have a few weeks before I need to present it, the banner was a bad idea thinking about it now. Cheers Strawberryclock, I tend to go off topic, so I’ll work on how to deliver the speech more. I’ll use template to be save The Hero Hartmut, so I won’t have that problem, but thanks for the advice. Also Zarathustra it was a typo, when typing it the font was similar to the background so I didn’t get a clear look.
