ACNE |

Eh, Photo Album is nothing but acne discussion. I figured I'd go ahead an put this up so you boys can duel this out here and not in there.
So uh, acne. Pretty cool stuff... ------------------- Ron says:

Gonna admit, I lol'd.
Eh, nothing wrong with getting rid of it. Teenager and young adult years are a period where looks are a large part of your life. Sadly. :/ Not healthy to become enveloped by it obviously, but I don't think it's wrong to spend 5 minutes putting on products.

I've had the stuff since I was 11, meaning over half my life. I currently spend about 10-20+ minutes each time I get a wash, making sure I'm being very thorough.
Consideirng how bad I once had it, what I have now doesn't phase me so much, but it still does bother me. I've spent 1000s and 1000s on products, drugs, herbal remedies and devices that are supposed to get rid of it. They all seem to have one thing in common, first few weeks shows improvement, and then my body builds an immunity towards it. I've researched it and apparently acne used to just affect teenagers, now it goes as far as affecting women well into their 30s. ------------------- Acting is easy, being real is hard ![]()

quote U_TurnFor the same reason diseases are becoming more and more resilient. People are too impatient to let their bodies fix problems, so they pump themselves full of antibiotics and similar products. -------------------

Acne could also just be related to the modern diet. Indigenous tribes have little to no acne whatsoever.

That is probably true. I live off of McDonalds and work at Taco Time, and I'm hit pretty bad.
Ahh, I'd become a vegan to further remove synthetic material from my body, but good *bleep*ing lord Hot n' Spicy McChickens are good. -------------------

To a degree I'd say that's true, but a persons body chemistry plays the biggest role. You can see people eating the worst shit on a regular basis and having the clearest skin and someone who has one burger in a month and gets a crazy out break.
quote BunnyburnYou have a point, because most people seem to have forgotten that water is very good at washing the skin under the right temperature. On the other-hand though, adding to something Arcaida said - if it's painful, you just want to get rid of it. If you have toothache then you try to take painkillers to nullify the pain before you go to the dentist to get it sorted. With painful acne you try to get rid of it as soon as possible. Not only does it *bleep*ing hurt, but that pain causes you to feel miserable and it's a constant reminder of how bad your skin currently is. But to defend your statement once again, I blame a lot of products these days for aggravating the acne and making it unbearably painful. ------------------- Acting is easy, being real is hard ![]()

I used to suffer from it bad but over the years it's died right down. My face isn't perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than it was in high school.

Most of those products will dry your face out, which in theory is good as that's how to stop spots, but your skin will react to being so dry and go into grease producing over drive. I was told that's the main thing that stops those products from working. Then I was told some where else that using a good moisturizer after washing with whatever, is good for getting rid of spots, which seem to make sense combined with the other info.

re: ACNE |
quoteA friend of mine used to have it worse than anything I've seen in my life. He went to a dermatologist and got something called Accutane (or Roaccutane? I'm not sure). It had him cleared up in about a month and he stayed that way forever. I had mild acne and my local doctor put me on some less powerful drug. It took longer to work - I went about two months before I saw any improvement - but when it did start working I cleared up really quickly. The one thing I learned is that commercial facewashes and herbal remedies simply do not work - at least not for anyone who "suffers" from acne. If you only get a couple of spots here and there then these products might work, but so would healthier eating, so they're a waste of money no matter what your situation. ------------------- Barmy's Blog: A+B+Start.

Roaccutane didn't really work for me, it just dried my lips out which was a pain in the ass. Pro Active worked ok, but basically what cleared me up was time.

I think I ought to go scrub my face with the clock then.
quote Barmy BratYeah, it worked wonders for me, until my treatment cycle ended and it all came back again. My dermatologist said I'd only need to be on it once and it would be gone forever but that wasn't the case at all. ------------------- Acting is easy, being real is hard ![]()

I have never had acne before. I mean, I've had a couple of spots on my chin but that's pretty much the extent of it.
There was this guy who I went secondary school with and he probably had the worst acne I had ever seen in my life. His face was covered along with his back. And whenver he used to get hot or aggrivated they would start leaking. It was horrible. -------------------
