I'm on MSN and my friend sends me a link to an image on 4chan (which he occasionally does), so I click it open (as I normally do) and it says I've been permanently banned for the use of child porn.

I'm seriously worried about that because I'm never on 4chan, except for the times when he has linked me, which is still hugely slim. Nobody else uses my laptop, just me.

So is it possible that someone has hacked my IP, or what the sweet *bleep* is going on here?

Are you sure he didn't just send you an image which is MEANT to give you that message?

According to him, it was an image of some cross-eyed dude with a caption saying "DERP", and I don't think he would be the kind to mess about with that kind of thing. He showed me the image too.

You sound far too concerned to not be guilty of something else..on the other hand. I bet he sent you a link to a page that is made to say that to you, it is 4chan after all..

I would've believed that ordinarily, but even the tab that I had opened said, had "4chan - Banned" or something along those lines. Unless that's what it's meant to do, it just sounds really dodgy to me. And what's even weirder is the fact I'm the only person who uses this laptop.

Try going to the site by typing it into your browser bar and actually browsing the site, if it doesn't actually say you're banned when you do that then I think you're home free.

If you are perma banned, there must be some option to contact them right?

I don't care about 4chan to be honest, I'm just worried my computer's IP may have been hacked or something.

You're probably on a dynamic IP and someone who used your IP address before you got banned for it. Its most like not anything someone in your household did. You can either just restart your internet modem or wait a few days and you should get a new IP address.

Nothing to do with it, imageshack blocks images when the URL has porn in it, so in this case:
