"Technically, chocolate ice cream is the best dessert." People just throw these words around for dramatic effect and sentence enhancement, and almost always use them in the complete opposite way that they were intended to be used. If you literally die laughing, that means you actually do die from laughing. And chocolate ice cream cannot technically be the best dessert, because the "best" dessert is a matter of opinion, not absolute fact. Has anyone else noticed a lot more people making these kinds of errors recently? And IRL too, not just Neo. I just say "goddamn" and "shit" a lot, normally in situations that don't call for it, to enhance my sentences. Makes people love me.

Yeah I've noticed people like to use big words to make themselves sound smarter. Not out of context per-say, but annoying nonetheless. It makes me wanna smack them with the dictionary they got it from. (Literally.) -------------------  | |

I've noticed some people tend to speak in the most complex manner possible simply to get a point across, or to give the illusion that the intelligence they posses is much higher than that of the person she or he is referring to, generally to feel superior.
That would be a perfect example of what I'm talking about. I could have simply said "People try to sound smart to make themselves feel smart", but instead someone would choose to over-complicate a sentence like that. The people the OP is referring to are the people who try to sound smart, who hear a new word and having no idea what it means, use it in a sentence. They just want to feel smart, but it's hilarious when you can outsmart them. -------------------  It's out now! - Abbey Road is incredible. | |
