Multi AV Ports? |
|
Hey, we're getting a new television and my folks are always cockbent on my PS3 playing. They always say "It's the constant switching of the cords in the back of the TV that messed it up!!!!!!!11!!!1!" and the like.
The TV is going to be a flat screen, so I'm pretty excited about playing my PS3 on it, and mostly because if volume gets to high on our current TV, it *bleep*s up the sound and it starts to crackle. (Especially on games with loud explosions, like Dead Space for example.)
So my mom and I made a deal that if we could find an AV port with multiple hookups, that I could hook into the TV, and then have the cable, the DVD player and my PS3 hooked up to the port so there would little to no switching involved, she'd let me play my PS3 on the brand new television. So, anything like that exist? I'm kinda low on cash, and I'd like it to be at a decent price. ------------------- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Yes, you can most likely find something like that at your local gaming store or any other electronics store.

Look them up on Amazon.com. You'll be bound to find something that you like for a cheap prize. Also read the reviews and look for the specs.

Yes, GameStop could have one. It may even have a used one for you to buy cheap. I am not sure, as I don't go there much on account of my lack of interest with games.

re: Multi AV Ports? |
quote Jaw KneeI just re-read your post and I think I know what you're trying to say now. Your new HDTV will have enough ports to connect your PS3, DVD, Player, and even the cable. Most HDTVs nowadays have enough ports to hook up at least 5-6 different devices on it. It's also standard to have at least 2 HDMI ports (which your PS3 will use) and 2-3 Composite Ports (The red, yellow, and white cable the DVD player uses) and at least one SD port. The rest will be determined by the brand and how much you're paying. But those three are mandatory in most brands. So you have nothing to worry about. All you really have to do is click the "Source" button on your new Remote and you'll be switching between the devices. It's that simple. You'll be fine. ------------------- | |

Ahh, ok, I see. I thought that they were only accompanied with one set of the three. So there will be multiple sets of ports?

Usually, there will be at least two or three ports in the back for connecting AV cables. You should be fine.

Even if your tv doesn't have multiple AV ports what you will need is a AV switch:

Isn't it that the PS3 could play DVDs as well? Why do a switch in the first place?

The PS3 should be used as a back-up. I prefer to have a DVD player on the main living room and the PS3 on my room. But sometimes, the DVD player is so old, it just fails to read the discs. It's annoying, so the PS3 is a good alternative. Not to mention that using the PS3 as a DVD player is quite annoying because you have to use the controller as a control.
