Well, these days, people seem to be more against smoking (goes with the territory of it being associated with cancer, and poor health, and of course, the fact it smells TERRIBLE, etc).

The question is whether you could see yourself dating/living with/marrying, etc someone that smokes. Do you smoke yourself? Can you simply tolerate it? Would you need conditions? Or would it be flat out refusal?

I frankly wouldn't be able to stand it very well I think. I loathe the smell of it (can give me a headache really quickly), and of course, it's a known carcinogen.

If I really cared for the person, I could deal with the occasional smoke, and I'd hope said person would have the thoughtfulness to do it away from me.

My first high school crush smoked like a chimney. It doesn't bother me in any way.

But, as for dating or living with (non-family) a smoker, I wouldn't. I would help them try to break their old habits if I loved them that much. I'm not desperate for a relationship though, so if I only liked the person for their looks, it would be a definite no.

I would never live with a smoker unless they only smoked outside. I just hate the feeling of having nicotine on everything, and the smell that lingers.

I do smoke on occasion, but they cloves or hookah. I tend to stay away from the rest.

Never. Tobacco smoke is one of the most disgusting, nauseating stenches I've ever had the displeasure of smelling.

Even if they only smoked occasionally I'd have to say no. Whenever they went out for a smoke they'd come back in reeking of it, plus constant coughing and hacking would really get on my nerves.

i would say no...they die quicker...they has a horrible smell...plus if they dont smoke they live longer

I would never live with someone who was physically addicted to their cigs, and so much that they depended on having one when the woke up and every 2-3 hours after. I'm fine with someone having the odd cigarette to relax, or even smoking weed occasionally as long as they did not live and work for the sole purpose of getting high.

I currently live with my Dad who smokes, and I can't exactly tell him to stop because its his house and all. He does do it outside but it still smells in the house with his clothes.

Have dated someone who smoked and no doubt will do again. I used to smoke a lot more than i do now, so feel it would be kinda hypocritical if i didn't. Plus the smell and stuff doesn't bother me. If i'm smoking then i'll go outside though, and would expect the smoker i moved in with to do the same were that to happen.

I live with smokers. So long as they smoke outside, near a lit fireplace, I don't care.

I'm not a smoker, and I think cigarettes smell wonderful. And yes, I am being serious.

Cigarettes tend to be stress relievers, and if that's what they need to relieve their stress and relax, then I say go for it.
