quote The ShadowIt's people like this that take freedom for granted. Get a pineapple shoved up your ass daily and see if you don't at least have a shred of respect for the people that give up their lives to try and do what they feel is right. Right or wrong, their heart is in the right place, and that's all that matters. ------------------- I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by fleeing the scene of an accident..

Go mourn for them...but their lives were not lost in a act of heartless murder in what is supposedly a civilised country....which is what makes it so bad Your attitude is: Why fix my bike when my car needs new tyres ------------------- ![]() thanks to Sapphire Dragon for the pic.

re: 11/5/09 - A Sad Day |
quote The ShadowPeople need to learn the difference. As heartless as I'm gonna sound, the reason there's not much buzz about the latter is because it's a common occurrence. So when something like this happens(an army post, still quite less common) there will be buzz about it and people will feel sad for a short amount of time. lrn2differentiate So if you're one of those who turns a blind eye to every reported death(s).. suit yourself. But keep it to yourself too, for discretion's sake. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

While this is quite sad, the irony is that if all of these people (all soldiers and one policemen) were killed in our current war nobody would even bat an eye. But because they died here, for some reason their deaths matter more to people.

quote LokiHow do you figure? I see many tributes for fallen soldiers. I've heard more about soldiers dying in Iraq on the same day, then I've yet to hear about this situation. I had to go to yahoo.com to make sure people weren't BSing. re: 11/5/09 - A Sad Day |
quote TeadrinkerAe you serious? The Taliban is largely a band of unskilled gunners who can't shoot anything that isn't within 100m. Only the higher ranking members of the Taliban are trained to a good enough to be a threat to our extremely well trained forces. They get lucky sometimes and the news makes a big deal about our 200 odd British dead (not to disrespect them, they are heroes no the less) but forget to mention we are slaughtering the Taliban, who now resort to IED's to kill soldiers. I am not saying we are completely decimating the Taliban in Afghanistan, we aren't but we are substantially better equipped and better trained. This event is because of some selfish dick (and friends, if the news is right on that) that somehow wormed his sorry ass into the forces and shot up his base. ------------------- ![]()
